if we're talkin about gameplay

part 2 wins,no doubt

and ex mode is too cool

but i still believe part 1 is better

for the feel....the vibe.....

part 1 is simply much more inspired

one thing for sure

best fighter ever?

HA....not likely

best fighter ever is kof 98

and just WHERE is fatal fury special,eh?

wampire hunter should also be present in the top ten......

tastes are tastes...........

Good to see I'm not the only one that prefers Last Blade 1 over 2... but I wouldn't rank it as the #1 fighting game of all time. All top ten (or however many spots there are) lists always cause controversy since there is never a list that everyone can agree with. Nonetheless, I have to say that this list is shit since it practically ignores any fighter not created in the last few years. Capcom vs. SNK as #2? That boring piece of turtle-bait?? Puh-leeze.

true....they say sf2 hf is number 8

but the best capcom fighters
( vampire hunter aside )

are ssfx

and sfzero 2 dash

in other words, the ones created BEFORE capcom lost the plot completely

ah well,

we still have Bio-Hazard

Very interesting list. I'm glad to see that Tekken was not there. To me, that's mostly a button mashing experience. But where's Samurai Showdown II? You'd think that since LB is #1 then SS II should be there somewhere?!?!

Sorry, but as much as I like Last blade, it didn't deserve the top slot. Where's Garou? Where's Fatal Fury Special? Where's Samurai Shodown 4? For that matter. Last Blade 2 was better than the first one, s why didn't it receive top honors?

I repected this guy's point of view until I saw CVS at #2. Sorry, I love the concept but this release can't stand up to true fighters, the anemic fighting system totally shuts off the intensity and the game gets boring after just a few months. Hopefully CVS2 will be worthy of that spot. CVS wasn't.

I'm not one to strongly vocalize my opinion on things very often, but it needs to be said that this guy's list sucks. It's true...it's true.

Rival Schools 2?
Guilty Gear X?
MvC 2!?!?!?!?! (!!!!!)

And Capcom VS. SNK at number 2!?!?!?

All of these games made the list at the expense of Mark Of The Wolves, Real Bout Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown II?

Feh.

Here's my top ten in descending order, without taking multiple games from any series.

10. Dead Or Alive II
9. Capcom VS SNK
8. Soul Calibur
7. Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold (SFZ2')
6. Samurai Shodown II
5. Last Blade 2
4. Real Bout Fatal Fury
3. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
2. Garou: Mark Of The Wolves
1. KOF 98

CvS definetly is not deserving of a #2 spot. That alone flaws his credibility pretty bad for me.

Yeah, when I first started reading the list...with button mashers like MVC2 and Soul Calibur on there, I never would have figured he had even HEARD of Last Blade. Heres mine...(Not based entirely on gameplay, but atmosphere and character design as well).>>>

10)Samurai Shodown 2
9)Vampire Savior
8)Street Fighter 3
7)The Last Blade 2
6)Street Fighter Zero 3
5)Street Fighter Zero 2
4)King of Fighters '00
3)King of Fighters '96
2)The Last Blade
1)Garou: Mark of the Wolves

That top 10 list is total shit, almost his whole list are games that recently came out this year or last. It's like he just looked in gaming mags to compile that list.

Capcom VS. SNK at number 2? HA, that game was one of Capcoms worst games IMO. If thats the number 2 game, the NGPC version would be number one, it's a better game! Capcom VS. SNK is definetly not one of the best 10 fighters of all time. The jury is still out on CvsSNK 2, but 1 def. did not make the cut. Capcom vs. SNK seemed like a perfect concept, but the end result sucked (kinda like communism)

Also, Last Blade 2 is far superior to Last Blade 1, LB2 would def. be higher on any top list.

Putting 3-D games and 2-D fighting games in the same list is like having a car show with pintos and porches in the same catagory. They need to be in seperate catagorys, because as much as a 2-D fighter has in common with a 3-D fighter, their still different and compare different.

Also games vacant from that list, which should be on it IMO are Virtua Fighter 3, Super SF 2 Turbo, Samurai Shodown 2 or 4, oh hell heres my list at least. My top 10, in no particular order:

2-D fighters top 10:

Street Fighter 3 2nd Impact
King of Fighters 98
Samurai Showdown 4
Guilty Gear X
Vampire Savior
Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha
Real Bout 2
Last Blade 2
X-Men VS. Street Fighter
Marvel VS. Capcom 2
Super SF 2 Turbo

3-D fighters:

Tobal 2
Virtua Fighter 3 TB (Arcade)
Project Justice
Dead or Alive 2
Samurai Sprits 2!
Soul Calibur
Fighters Megamix

(accually I can only think of 7 3-D fighters I'd praise this much)

One of these days we will have to sit down and play a few rounds of Samurai Shodown to change your opinion about this wonderful series. Last Blade is a very technical fighter (KoF with swords) but Samurai Shodown has it beat when it comes to character design and for me personally, the adrenaline factor is higher.

Soul Calibur in my opinion should be ranked in the top three. That game has great graphical and engineering capabilities in it.

I agree with the list that Dead or Alive 2 is a better game than Soul Calibur. I like the fact that the game has lots of grappling techniques and that button mashers can be countered easily because of the countering system the game uses. Then again, I love playing the UFC game on DC also. I prefer more realistic fighters sometimes because if I'm not playing video games, I'm training to compete in real competitions. So my question is this, do you think that someone who trains everyday in the martial arts can appreciate more the realistic side to fighting games than someone who doesn't train? I have lot's of friends who don't train and come over and they can't stand the UFC game and more realistic type games. I heard Buriki-one(sp?) for the hyper-64 is kinda like the UFC game, can anyone explain to me how good that game is.

Oh, it's nice to see Last Blade as a top pick and KOF 98 being mentioned. I love those games. Also, I agree with some in that Sam Sho 2, Fatal Fury Special should be on the list also. Garou was missing for some reason as well. That game in my opinion still ranks as the one of the top three 2d games to date.
