Did anyone else notice the SNK 1978-2001 button on the right hand side of http://www.eventgaming.com/ that says coming next week.

What do you think it is?

A History of SNK with information on the new games?

Guys think positive, it may not be a tombstone. It could be a recap of SNK's best up until now.

Technically, it could very well be a tombstone. SNK does need Eolith to make KOF2K1, so they can't survive an an independant entity any more. My guess, anyway...

You people amaze me, some fan site throws up a button they made, obviously to get attention, and you all start saying "Oh No SNK is gonna Die!"

They aren't dead, calm down, they certinly won't be dieing in 2001, I mean come on. They have releases shedualed for 2002!

Does KOF on Gameboy Advance ring a bell?

It couldn't be a tombstone, unless SNK died this year (if that's true, than Hyper scooped every other news source out there).

Sorry for the confusion. That graphic is not a tombstone, just a teaser for an SNK history feature starting Tuesday of this week. Hope everyone enjoys it.

I think Space Invaders, Space War, and Ozma Wars were the first overhead shooters, EVER, IMO.

Of course I've heard of Space invaders, just not Ozma Wars. Any good? And no, I don't mean by today's graphical standards. I just mean "is it fun?"

It's available on MAME (though I don't think the sound works for it or no one has sound samples or something like that). It's actually kind of addictive as most games of its style are. It's sort of like Galaga except there's no color and your fighting these constantly downward flying/swerving waves of asteroids and SEVERAL different types of ships (this was what impressed me about it). At the start of the game and between levels you have a big mothership that refuels your shields and stuff. IMO I guess it's kind of advanced for 1979 or '78 (whenever it came out). Try it out on MAME before you start hunting down a PCB. <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">
