Fair cop with reference to the sig, but i've just learned how to use Img/gif's

Why no warning???????????????

I'm probably one of the calmest members of the board - never flamed anyone

Well to the question at hand - which ever moderator locked me out of my profile - when will i get it re-instated???????

Thanxs for your time

Will Bio-motor shrink his sig???????? :) :D

Finally any chance of a Scotland flag of nationality :)

well, if you've just learned how to use UBB code, here's a good lesson for sigs - if you're going to steal animated .gifs from other sites, don't go overboard. Having a 300k+ one and a 100k+ one in the same sig is not very kind for the people on dialup connections.

That's another problem with linking to files that you're not hosting on your own space or have created yourself... obviously you have a high-speed connection so you don't notice these things, but there are people on these forums on dialup connections who would like to be able to actually read threads. I end up having to abuse the high-speed connection here at work to read the forums because it takes forever at home...

I know most people want to have nice sigs, but there needs to be limits. It's especially stupid when someone types a one-line or two-line response, then have a gigantic sig that either takes up a lot of space or takes forever to load.

I use a dial up connection and i'm in the backward place called gibraltar

Isdn is a dream here - never in the foreseeable future

I'm normally connected at 40kbps - maximum and i normally lose connection twice ever hour

I'm sure there are better connections than what i have

I pay £15 per month and i also have to pay for the phone time as well

We tried PMing members and telling them to remove Sigs that were too large, but at least half the time, they either did not read their PM's, "forgot" to do it, etc. By adopting this method, they notice it, and they come to us. Nothing personal, it is simply how it is done now.

While there are no strict guidelines on Signatures (yet), anything over 200K in memory, or large enough visually to force a person to scroll past a screen's worth of Sig, is generally considered to be too big. Also, if they are overly wide, so as to offset the Forum page, they are considered to be too big. Yours were well beyond 200K in memory, and vertically stacked so as to force people to scroll down over a screen's worth.
