Shawn, with the "power"/relationship you have with SNK-Aruze-Brezzasoft, have you ever thought about asking them to reproduce some of the rarer carts? Short runs like 300 would have NO problem selling out I'm sure.

I'm talking Magical Drop, Ninja Master, Pulstar, Blazing Star, MOTW, Kizuna Encounter etc.

You have afterall, been a loyal customer. They would most likely take your request seriously.

I know I'm going to hear from the collectors who have payed ridiculous amounts for some of these carts, but tough cookies man. If there's a way for people to get these at decent prices, it should be done.

I'd be the first in line but I know not the last.
Many would agree.

Oh, and just THINK what it would do to your so-called competition! :D

As much as I don't care about the AES scene personally, that's a REALLY good idea.

Of course then no one would really buy those games at all. I mean god, who wants to see the price of Metal Slug go from $1600 to $300? Not the collectors, I can tell you that. They only go after the rare ones like that cause they're that expensive. They probably wouldn't eat up MS1 at $300. Only a few gamers would go for it along w/ MOTW. The other RARE games that no one really cares to play will just sit there if they're re-produced. Cause now that they're affordable no one will care about them.

Peace

Well, I guess part of my point is making these games "un-rare". The collectors can keep the shitty ones, I'm talking about the games people want but most can't afford/won't spend the money on.

Sony did it with FF Tactics and Castlevania. So why the hell not?

Why not indeed.
As long as they were identical to the originals, I think it would be a great idea.

If they were changed, then they would become more rare than the originals, & that's bad.

If they would do runs of around 50, maybe a hundred,
I'll bet Shawn could make a nice profit selling em.

Yeah by Budget Labeling them, effectively making them 'uncollectable' so as not to hurt the value of the original...in theory.

I'm not speaking for Shawn, he may in fact feel the exact opposite, but he still has copies of the newer games he bankrolled...not sure how happy he is with the sales of them, but you can only assume that the sales of a game that has already been released (one of the big reasons someone buys a game...it's new :) ) and a game that is inherantly 'uncollectable' (another reason people here buy games...some people)wouldn't be high enough for him to break even, let alone make a profit, let alone make enough profit to make it worth his while.

Just my observation, I could be way off.

Not enough demand to warrant the 2000 piece minimum production run. If another reproduction was considered, I would strongly suggest that the insert, manual, cart sticker be modified from the original run.

Ok, too make this all on topic for Lee, here's some hot off the press neo news.

Neo collectors/gamers are now using Ebay to purchase neo items.

You can thank me later. <img src="graemlins/tickled.gif" border="0" alt="[Tickled]" />

2000 pieces? I don't get it.... If they make these runs at minimums of 2000, why the heck are some games so rare? Why would it be less for some and more for others?

Are you saying that there is a minimum of 2000 KOF2K1's?

WHAT ABOUT THE OFFICIAL ZUPAPA!!!!!!!!! ONLY 500 WERE MADE!!!!! ;)

Seeing as how SNK is closed, and another company would have to make these new production runs, there is no way a company would make these games without putting their name on it.

That would cause two versions of the same game, just because of the packaging and when it was made.

Then we would see Metal Slug 1 on sale on eBay with a title like "Metal Slug 1 Original SNK Rare Bid Now!"

"Bid now or forever regret it!"

And people would then declare that their original SNK copies are worth more because SNK made them...People will start selling the new copies and claim them to be SNK copies...All hell breaks loose.

PS: I love the idea but I just can't see it working. :(

Ah-ha! But you see, I could care less if those original copies (1st run) would be worth more, because I would have some forma of a legitimate, non-homebrew, non-conversion game! I just want to play it! I really don't care too much about what the collectors think?! It'll never change for them!

Just look at NGF!!!!! They have f**king boxes of carts, rare, ultra-rare, etc., and they still sell these games at silly-ass prices.

The market needs an adjustment.
