Idea for limiting signatures.

Make a line limit. Something like, no more than 6 lines of text and an image counts as 2 lines. It's extraordinarily annoying when someone has a long signature full of a half page of text or images. Some of them may be cool for one view, but they're never cool enough to warrant wasting all that space, period. I mean, an avatar and signature image, maybe a few lines of text - I can see how these all add a sense of personality. When it's so that your sig is bigger than ANY of your posts, that's just stupid. If you want to express youself that badly, make more substantial posts! A sig should just let off a HINT of you. No one one wants to read a novel about good traders and your favorite song.

See, BBH and KA are cool. Now broken... You're insane if you think that anyone wants to read all that every time you post, or ever.

I like my sig :(. But I'd be willing to shrink it down if we must impose a limit.

Well maybe 5 lines is being too harsh, and I'm not yelling at anyone really cause I know you're all abiding by the rules. I just thought I'd toss this idea out since it annoys me sometimes. If the general concensus is no, I wouldn't lose sleep over it or hate anyone.

I am sorry. I guess since I don't qualify in the "cool" category, that automatically makes my sig too large. Yes, several lines of text and a 5 kilobyte image makes my posts just BOG down the 56k'ers. Plus its extremely annoying to see a list of people I have had good deals with, considering no ones reputation is ever questioned here at neo-geo.com and deals always go through fine.

How dare I.

P.S. Hows that Metal Slug website going?

It was better when the sigs were displayed once per page.

I have no idea why they removed this feature.

I've said this before:

You can DISABLE your signature before every post.

You just have to unselect the check mark in the box
where it says, "Show Signature:" in the 'Options' menu.

Not everyone realizes that the option has always been there.

Weird, I tend to think my sig is bordering on being too long, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it :D

like I've said before though, if any official rules are ever established about the vertical height and length of sigs, I'll comply with whatever it is. It's no big deal to me.

And I do usually disable the sig if I'm making a short (and potentially stupid) one-line post.

I demand that BBH be limited to a minimum of six babes in his sig.

No actually I think you're a great member, or at least I've never had a real problem with you. Don't take it personally! I know people like to list good traders, but really, you can tell who's good just by being here long enough. I don't think it's all that necessary to make the lists... Afterall, I would have to put Dion in my list since I made a deal with him when I was but a n00b and I got good service from it. Your sig obviously wasn't slowing down loading too much, it's just that the bulk of a thread should be conversation, not sig. That's my main point.

My website is going horribly. The host fucked up bad and now the page is gone. I don't know if I can fund a new site that would work well and still be cheap. I'm a poor college boy who spends half his money on games! crying

EDIT: I am way too much of a literary perfectionist! Must... Not... Edit... Again... Bah...

99% of all sigs are acceptable for viewing on a 1152x864 display, it's only when they're poorly formatted and break the vertical scroll that they become a problem, ie. BIG BEAR's sig (see http://www.neo-geo.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=10;t=005143;p=2 for example).

Really in need of a handful of line-breaks.

Well, like I've said, it's just weird to have a thread where over 50% of the space and text is signature.

But more importantly. Why is the URL marked out hmmm? Don't want us to see the new design of the SGR yet?

And yes it was necassary for me to quote broken's image.

Dude, I know huge sigs are annoying but, just be cool about them, I used to have a huge ass dog on my sig and removed it since it made me sick...

Hopefully that will happen with dudes with huge sigs, they'll eventually get tired of the shit...

Easy man...
