Phantom-1 Poll?

Can a mod make a poll asking people who own or owned a Phantom-1 if they have experienced problems with it? It's tiring to see the same topics from new people and have one guy say the device is flawless and another say it's not. At least if we had a poll to point to, we could determine with a little more accuracy just how common problems are.

Questions should be, roughly:

1. How well has the device worked for you?

- Perfectly
- Good
- Bad
- Horribly

2. Have you experienced graphical glitches? (like white dots during a zoom effect )

- Yes
- No
- Never played a game with a zoom effect.

3. Have you had any games not work with it?

- Yes
- No

4. Did you need to get new slots for it to work at all?

-Yes
-No

5. Would you recommend the device?

- Yes
- No
- Neutral

Oh yeah, and bootlegs don't count. You'd have to make that clear. We're only talking about 100% original carts.

i got mine used pre-modded to fit inside a home cart shell and works 100% everytime , the complaints i hear is that when it is new the slots are very tight . since i got mine used this was never an issue. i would say get it and if you don't like it sell it .

See, this is what I mean. On person's opinion may lead someone to drop $300 on one of these when there are people like me who would say that it's not a 100% reliable device. Just go look in general discussion for "why doesn't my phantom work generic topic #30". It's staring to piss me off. People need to realize the risks associated with this product.

This is a good suggestion, I would also like to propose:

6.- Have you chipped it because of its tightness?

it is a good poll idea.but i think with many things some peoples might be built better than others, i'm sure its just like a conversion some are AES perfect and others are glitchy. these are built by some guy named !arcade!, not mass produced by a major corperation .

If you want to play MVS, buy an MVS slot! I can't believe where some people's morals are buying unlicensed converters to play MVS carts! Has anybody ever thought of this? blah blah blah

Mine always worked fine, but sometimes I would have to remove and put it back in the system to get it to work. I think it would work great if it were made inside a cart. I did however just sell mine because I got a cab, and now have no need for it

Yes and that's why we need something to show just how many people have had troubles with it. For me, it couldn't have been any worse. I couldn't play Windjammers or Metal Slug X and I had graphical glitches. When people ask about it now, I always have to defend myself and explain how there's nothing wrong with my system, it was the newest model, the carts are legit, etc. It's not that I couldn't play anything on it, cause it worked great at first, but just imagine what that's like the first time you get a cart that doesn't work with it... And then you replace the cart only to find that your new cart doesn't work either.

The converter is a nice compact device that goes in the drawer when you don't need it, and it works great (mine does anyway). I prefer engineering to rube goldberg.

yeah, im intereted in a phantom, and have heard both negative and positive things about it. i play aes, and am interested in a move to mvs. I figured I would start with a phantom, and move along to a cab. I don't know if spending $300 on something thats going to kill my slot on my home system is going to be a good investment. I would love to see this poll

Why not just give Ray Young a call or an e-mail before going to the trouble to hunt down another cart of the same game you already have?

I had a few problems with my Phantom-1 at first, but once I got Ray to straighten everything up for me, it works like a charm. I haven't tried Metal Slug X on it though, so I might wind up eatting my words.

I've had my Phantom 1, the newest revision, for about 8 months now and no problems. Well, other than the Audio Jacks not working. Which makes me ask this question, again.

If Ray knows they only work on certain serial #'s on the Neo, why bother putting them on there at all? I mean, we had 3 Phantoms 1's at a meet and NONE of them worked on ANY of the Neo's we had there, which varied by serial #'s. I'd like to know EXACTLY which Neo the Audio Jacks are compatable with......

Anyhow, good topic to be discussed. :)

What is the purpose of those supposed to be anyway? You can get stereo sound using the headphone jack.

EXACTLY! :)

In my opinion, they are a sucky annoyance, especially when trying to switch carts. Not all people have huge hands like I do......

Is Ray even around anymore? I've e-mailed him several times about buying some MVS carts, but no answer. And his forums are gone too, I believe.... oh_no

We should have this moved to a place where the P1 can be discussed. wink
