I post YGPM in the selling forum, and then when I try to send said PM I get an error telling me to wait 90 seconds?!

In the meantime somebody probably checks their inbox and thinks I'm messing with them or something...

This issue has been covered already. Unfortunately, there is no way to get UBB to differentiate between PM's and Posts when it comes to the timer.

How about sending the pm first? Bam, your problems are over.

how about lowering the flood control to 60 seconds? Flood control has not helped the quality of posts, but has kept down flood attacks. 60 seconds is a good period of time to still keep down flood attacks, while allowing people 30 seconds less frustration between PMs.

Not quite... because the "YGPM" message in the selling forum is the watermark (with respect to the public) of when you attempted to buy a certain item. So especially for posts that sell a single, extremely rare item at a good price, you could start a controversy if your "YGPM" appears 2nd even though you PM'ed first.

The cynical element among the public (you know who you are) would assume that there were some under-the-table dealings by the second buyer in order to oust the rightful purchase of the first buyer.

So either you PM late and possibly become the second buyer, or you PM first and appear to be the second buyer. What can you do? ;)

neojedi (and myself up until a few days ago) have the email button turned off. Many other members too. Seems like PM is the way to go in those cases. eh. I don't care. I say if you don't want your email available, make an alias and have it forward to your box. Then if someone dumps that available email in a porn mailing list of doom, you can simply dump the alias and make a new one.

wait - most people can't just make aliases for themselves because they use free mail accounts. Oh well. Long live telnet.
