I really enjoy the unrelated section of this forum because it is a great information exchange for vintage gaming and the current game craze. It is also fun to read an article/personal post or two, but lately I feel that the section has gotten out of hand.
When a forum member (or moderator) floods the unrelated forum with every interesting news story that he finds on line, it really crowds out other interesting topics within the section. This is just one of many examples.
I think this has had a ripple effect within the forums as members are less inclined to post topics that are appropriate for the unrelated section because within hours their topic has already been shifted to page 2.
My proposed solution would be to have two separate unrelated sections:
1. An unrelated section dedicated to video gaming in general where people could discuss, trade, and ask questions about video game topics unrelated to SNK from the 2600 to XBox.
2. An unrelated section dedictated to topics outside of gaming such as funny news stories, jokes, "check this out" topics, girlfriend problems/praises, et al.
A problem with a gaming section unrealated to Neo Geo is that it would attract even more people to this site who are not concerned with SNK or the Neo Geo. However, the problem of non Neo Geo topics in the News and Rumors, Gameplay, and Trading forums is very real.
Having an expanded unrelated section would accomodate the growth that this forum has experienced over the past year. Please consider my proposal. Thank you.
