Nope! I am trudging through this game myself right now. Pretty text heavy stuff here.

BTW, I am shipping your game out tomorrow morning wink

If only it did, this world would surely be a better and happier place to live. :D

Sadly though, as qube said, it's text heavy and it can be real chore to play it unless your Japanese skills are really good. I tried a few times, and wound up giving up everytime. And this is a real tragedy, because in my opinion, some of the graphics on that game are so high quality you could sit and gaze at art in motion if you could play it and enjoy it. Some of those towns and back-drops are really amazing works of pixel art.

I while back I did read something about a group trying to translate this game. Seems like they've given up though. frown

Sadly, the only RPG's and games for that matter, that get translated are those which have been emulated. So unless there's an emulated version of Sam Sho RPG, I don't see much people making an effort to translate it.

It was released for the Japanese PSX as well. So it would be easy enough to use that translation, if it ever happened.

Yeah I think they pretty much did. But Dejap Translations had made up this neat English teaser screenshot. <img src="http://www.dejap.com/screens/sshow-ss-1.gif" alt=" - " />

I kind of wish I got the Saturn version, but lo and behold, even when I bought SamSho RPG, the Saturn version was a lot harder to find than the PSX version. The PSX version is a slow loader, indeed. The Saturn version would've probably been more comfortable to play. At least the game is intact. I really like the way they kind of ran with an old SNES Square idea. Like the way your earned special attacks (moves) can be pulled off in fighting game fashion. (if you choose) The nice way you can select between joystick motion move usage or icon selection, kind of satisfied both parties.

I'd love to see a Sam Sho RPG 2

I don't think it'd be viable for the Aracade reliant MVS.

So it'd probably have to be released on another system. crying

SS RPG is emulated (every Neo CD game is emulated). It's playable in Nebula and probably other NeoGeo CD emulators too.

It's just that nobody capable of doing the translation has finished doing so.

I can understand why nobody tried translating it. Considering that it's set in Feudal Japan, people back then had their own certain way of talking, which non Japanese speaking or people with little to medium knowledge of the language might think is weird. It's like it's Japan's equivalent of Medieval talk (ye, thou, etc.)

this is probably a no go... but if someone wants to painstakingly translate it and work on it.. I'd be glad to host everything on neocd.net :)

of course, appropriate credit will be given.

I've beaten both story lines twice, and I still love re-playing this game! Yes, it does indeed have the worst loading time on the Neo CD (Yes, worse than last Blade 2!), but the other versions don't even compare.

I've tried both the SAT and PS version, and the amount of stuffage they had to scale back is rediculous! If you have a Neo CD, get the real thing for sure!

I made a nice review with pics of the game, but Bobak has yet to put it up. Let's hope he does sometime!
