I was wondering which console people think will be the biggest seller. Hears what I think...
PS2: It will continue to be successful in Japan, but be behind Gamecube in terms of sales. No doubt it will out sell X-Box in Japan, due to it's cheap DVD and X-Box being little known. However with key titles seeing conversions to other consoles (MGS2 and Final Fantasy to X-Box), it will be 3rd in the running in the USA. Sega's developement will be cut between GC and X-Box, few original titles will produced for this console, instead conversions of Dreamcast games will make up there PS2 releases. 3rd party support will dry up as titles can be produced more easily on other formats.
X-Box: It's first year will be as disappointing as PS2's. Most games will be glossed over PC ports of older games. However once titles from Japanese developers begin to arrive, such as MGS2, Crazy Taxi Plus, Jet Set Radio Future, etc, people will begin to see the difference between the 2 and buy X-Box. Also Mircosoft have got more money than sony to advertise, which will have an impact on the casual gamer. In the USA it will be a close battle between Gamecube and X-Box, with PS2 taking 3rd place due to many of it's titles appearing on the other two consoles. However in Japan it will have a difficult time.
Gamecube: With the promise of a new mario and zelda, plus the likes of sonic team behind them(PSO ver.2 is already in development for GC), it will have little trouble becoming the console leader in japan. The USA market will prove harder, however it software is noticably different to PS2/X-Box and slowly win round the public, eventually over taking PS2 and coming in a close 2nd to X-Box.
