This August my GF is dragging me to Italy for 3 weeks. I personally enjoy travelling about as much as I enjoy a canker sore. To all those who has been there, is there anything good besides the tourist traps and money pits? an arcade with an MVS perhaps? Or should I hang around the Naval bases in Naples or Sigonella? (where they speak english, take US money, and are also Navy folk, big plusses)

It is more practical to shop at your local mall where there is more selection rather than at the naval base in Italy. The advantages of shopping at the naval base is both tax and custom free.

God Iori go with it. You are starting to sound like an ugly American. You cannot find anything to like about that wonderful culture in 3 weeks?

You should be able to pick up some culture and be a little more appreciative of your signifigant other.

true, but I'd rather be in Milwaukee vice Italy. I haven't been home since last September.

Ehh why doncha swing there afterwards if you can? =P Seems like money isn't an issue...

Really though, you should try to enjoy yourself I think. There's so much you can expand and learn from. Not everyone has the opportunity to go to another country or see another culture.

I've never been to Italy, so I wouldn't know if it sucks or not, but the least you can do is try to have fun. Hey, consider it a favor for your girlfriend by being a good sport. Maybe you can kinda' hold her to something crazy you got lined up a little later down the road, just be sure it's legal!

Anyway, good luck and try to have some fun! Have a safe trip too...

yeah, tickets to Rome were only about $500, and seeing IcelandAir as the only airline flying in, that ain't bad as they are notorious for raping you with their fares. I guess I can try to get home by Christmas time.
Anyways LM, you have a point with the "not everyone gets this chance" stuff. But don't call me an ugly American just cuz I know where my priorities lie. I'm just a patriot.

Well if you find a kof machine you can find out what the moves are called in Italian. Like what is Iori's maiden masher in Italian or Raplhs Galactica Phantom.

I've been all around the world, and Italy is one of my favorites. Beatiful scenery, beautiful history, beautiful climate, beautiful people,

Bravissimo!

Here's one of my favorite quotes by Mark Twain:

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow mindendness - all foes to real understanding. Likewise tolerance or broad, wholesom, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in our little corner of the earth all of one's lifetime."

Jeez, dude. Go. My questions will be, 'Do you care about her?' and, 'Is she paying for it?' since you say she's 'dragging' you. Besides, Italy has got to be fun. I mean, crap! I'm italian, I tend to think I can be fun at times. It shouldn't matter whether you want to go or not. Your GF (guardian force? FF8. ) wants to go. But apparantly she really wants to go with you. YOU! Dude, you're luckier than you know. I say go but you are you and I am the walrus.

One more thing. Go to a soccer game! Enjoy the fight afterwards. Those are always cool to be in. I wish we had such enthusiastic fans in this country.

Watch your girlfriend. The Italian men are like wolves. They'll hit on anything that moves.

I hope you have a good time, and if you can't enjoy the history try enjoying some of that great pasta.

Oh Poor baby, be brave!

You dont need me to tell you how Italy is only the cultural capital of the universe. Filled to the brim with culture, style, history and beauty!

If you really feel the need to go hang with the sailors, then perhaps you are missing the whole point of going to italy!

Shit, You're gonna be down there too.
I leave on 9 August, I'll be at the Hotel Des Artistes in Rome until the 14th, after that, I'll be hopping all over the place. (Her decision, not mine.) Hope to see you around.
