Why the fuck didn't Nintendo make the thing backlit? How awesome would that have been? The PalmIIIc runs off a LiION Battery and lasts for a month under normal use and uses a backlight function...I'm sorry, I'm just pissed..

I would have LOVED for it to be backlit.. maybe it could have been an on/off option?

I know it eats batteries like a mother.. but its a pain in the ass to see the GBA sometimes.

If they would have backlit the GBA, it would have been a battery sucking whore like the Game Gear. Plus I think a backlight might have increased the size. What I wonder is why in the hell they didn't put four buttons on the face with the two shoulders for a total of six buttons. Then the layout and feel would have been like the old SNES pads.

I would have loved the 4-button layout..

As for the backlighting...look at the Palm and Handspring PDS'a. The battery lasts forever with them and they are 65,000 colors and BACKLIT!

Outsider, I don't use any light accessory.
I know it's a pain in the ass to play GBA without any light.......
My eyes almost got blind while playing in my living room. I have to move closer the the table lamp in order to play Final Fight One (I got all the secrets... )

I've seen NCS is selling the GBA light (looks just like GBC one).....
Anyone has any?

Oh, by the way. I've played my GBA over 20 hrs (actually 40 already) now but batteries are still working ???

I never had this problem. The Game Gear had a battery accessory like a VCR battery that gave you 8 hours during the day and could be recharged overnight. Also you could play while it was recharging, it's just that you could not go over 8 hours without a recharge.

Given that the back seat of a car or bus seat can have bad lighting, the benefits of the backlit screen are there. Not to mention SS with 2 buttons.

I am not talking about those rechargeables. I am talking straight AA's. I don't care what Sega said, six brand new double A's in the Game Gear lasted 25 minutes. I was playing Shining Force and I couldn't save since the batteries crapped out.

Now that I have to agree with. The Game Gear eats 6 AA's as a light snack between meals.
