Bangai-O (as it's called in the domestic release) is an awesome shooter, but it's definitely not for everyone.

Don't expect awesome graphics... they're pretty, but the mech is really tiny. It's more about the stage art and having lots of enemies on screen at once.

It's basically a wild, wacky shooter that's all about launching massive (500+) missile combos against enemies over 40 stages.

If you like other Treasure games, get it.

edited for spelling.

Yep, I've got both the Japanese and US versions of the game for the DC. It is old-school shooting fun.

Yeah, I got both of em too. The only difference betwee them is the edit of the KKK DC guy on the cinema screens. This games is one of Treasure's best, though. Full of sprites blowing up and lots of non stop action! Just what the doctor ordered for todays gameplay deprived gamer!

Yeah it's an awesome game. I have both the DC domestic and N64 import version. Although the DC is capable of launching many more missles, I kind of like the N64 version better because of the controls and graphics.

Why you guys get both US and import version of the same game?

Well, to me, it's not my cup of tea. Sold it right away after played it for 10 min.

I got both because I bought the import DC version the day it came out. When the domestic version came out, I just could not resist. It is a Treasure game after all and I grab one whenever I get the chance, regardless of whether or not I already have it.

Its a great game. The DC one is great and its cheaper but get the N64 if you can IMO the N64 one feels the best. I like the way the N64 controller is used alot.

I bought the Japanese version when it 1st came out. At that time there were no plans for a US release. I bough the US version so that I could read the manual and undertand the story better. I do not read nor speak Japanese and the game does not have a language switch.

Just wanted to say I picked up Bangai-O and really dig it. Definitely a bit offbeat in that Treasure way which I love. Anybody have suggestions for more DC shooters? I have Mars Matrix on the way......

Try Giga Wing 2. It has awesome 3-D graphics, but 2-D shooter gameplay. It's a little short, but overall a decent shooter.

Gunbird 2 is pretty good. It's definitely more challenging, but it's a good old-school shooter. Kinda like a cutesy version of Aerofighters. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I can't quite describe how, but Gunbird 2 feels a LOT like a Raiden game to me o_O;.
