... and knowing that, while he was alive, he didn't feel a movie of "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" would be a good idea, how long do you think it will be before we see it on the big screen? I don't think it's a matter of if, but when.

Actually, I heard that there was already one in the works, and he had some sort of advisory position in the process to make sure it did not stray too far of the course he wanted. Some have said it is canned, others say that it continues to go forward. I shudder to think what kind of beast HollyWood could turn this movie into without him there to keep them in check.

Hey, BBC-TV created a version based on the series back in 1981. CBS FOX VIDEO sells the VHS Video of the production. It is 194 minutes in length. I've got it. Here are scans from the video carton front and back...

The early eighties BBC made "Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy" has to be one of the most atmospheric, surreal TV shows ever.I remeber it coming on TV when I was 7, an being unable to understand it at all, but seeing these weird creatures. There is absolutely nothing to be gained, from a remake even if it was English made.In that respect its simaler to Doctor Who.

They should make it now and have Steven Spielberg run it that way it would not get changed.
