I played a kickass game at GameWorks today from Konami- Police 911.

It's a bit like Time Crisis except you're on a mat and the game uses motion sensors to read your position. When the bullets are coming, you either sway or crouch (or both). Swaying can also help you get a better view of a criminal so you can cap him easier, especially if an innocent bystander would otherwise block your shot.

You hide to reload the gun. You better be shooting accurately (no strafing ala Time Crisis II) because the reload is SLOW.

At the end of a game (whether you finish or don't finish) you get a rating based on 6 categories: Reflexes, Intellect, Luck, Bravery, Ethics, and Youthfulness.

Sometimes a criminal will get scared of you and run off. While it's not exactly the best idea (you really should save your bullets for criminals who continue to fight you), it can be fun to cap him in the back as he's fleeing. If you do that, the game calls it "Overly Cautious Self-Defense".

If you see this game, give it a shot. I got hooked on it (I spent about 6 hrs. at GameWorks, playing mostly this game and Dance Dance Revolution).

Did you play some Para Para Paradise with that as well?

Is this Police 911 a fairly new game?Cause when I go to my arcade I only go to the 2nd level since that's where all the fighting games are and all the big machines are at the 1st level

hebretto: There's a Police 911 game cabinet at Playtime downstairs next to the Crisis Zone game cabinet. Timezone has one too already.

Pretty cool game, though the first time I played in Malaysia gave me a severe backache (of course, the 3 hour dance session with EZ2Dancer before playing might have something to do with it. =P ).

Haven't finished the game yet, though the highest stage I've ever gone on one credit was to go overseas in Japan, 2nd stage after finishing up in Little Tokyo, America. Highest level I ever got without being shot was getting 3 lives. Still aiming for that elusive 100 lives. *sigh*

I love this damn game! Although it showed me how completely out of shape I am in. The constant crouching and dodging totally screwed my legs up and I am in constant pain (I played through it the past 2 days). But it was worth it. I'm too trigger happy in the game, and I shoot some of the cops in the back of the head accidently. I need to be more calm, and slow down my shooting speed. It's a nice change from the traditional shooting game.

No Para Para Paradise at Game Works, but they did have DDR 3rd Mix (which IMO blasts the DDR USA out of the water).

In my first game of Police 911, I started hitting an OBSCENE amount of colleagues and bystanders. I started playing using my Time Crisis II "Human Killing Machine" methods (mad strafing). That's not the way to play this game.

In Richard Hansen's stage, you see him running under a pickup truck. It's hard to hit him (although I've heard you should crouch completely down if you want a shot at nailing him from under the truck).

The chase stage where you have to nail the 3 white cars is a pain in the ass.

One downer is that you can get hit in transition between sections. The ranking screen comes up, and suddenly you get thwacked.

I was slightly sore this morning (hell, 6 hours between DDR 3rd and Police 911 will do it to you).

I've finished it, but not on one credit. Now, I'm playing it without using continues in hope of being able to finish with just one. My best Final Judge is about a 530/1000.

Dang! I might have to try that game. There is an aladin's castle about 45 min from me that has this game. I've seen people playing it, and it look tiring.

- But fun !

Necro Super Bump!

Played this today at a bowling alley, except it was called Police 24/7

Would be a natural on the Wii with a balance board, but we all know Konami is not smart enough to do something cool like that.

Probably one of my favorite all time arcade games.

Edit: The European version was called police 24/7. US version is Police 911

Konami made the police game and a boxing game using the sensor technology. I played them both when they were prototypes at the trade shows and boy, the boxing one proved beyond any shadow of a doubt how out of shape I was :p

Yep. Mocap boxing. Never played that one, but Police 911 really tires out your knees after awhile.

Kan: You should definitely check it out next chance you get.
I know they have it at Hinkley Casino, and Blainbrook in Blaine has it too.

I'd love to get a cab of it, but it would be a beast to move.

There were plans for a PS2 port of it at one time, I assume it was going to be compatible with the Eyetoy. You can figure out the rest.

I wonder if they'll try to make a home port of it using the Eyetoy and the lollipop? (move) Most of the places that used to have Mocap Boxing got rid of them, but it was fun while they lasted.

FunSpot has a Police 911 machine right next to the cockpit Outrun machine, so I pretty much know the opening by heart because it doesn't get played that often. I like to play a couple of stages of it when I visit. The second game in the series is pretty hard to find nowadays, but it's a lot tougher then the first game with more enemies on the screen. Konami also did another game like this without the motion controls and they called it Lethal Enforcers 3. It has nothing to do with the other two LE games and just plays like a shitter version of 911 without motion controls.

Sheeeeeit. I pulled muscles I didn't even know existed on Mocap Boxing. Great game though!

I dig 911 but I always get shot when I think I've dodged far enough.

I played the 2nd one at the then Jillians in Mall of America around '02 or so. Don't remember much about it other than you could pick your stage.

I also remember the yuppies working the front counter thought they worked at an exclusive nightclub and gave my long-haired friend and I shit. (Although I didn't care how I dressed then - I wore oversized shirts like Walmart white trash)

I think they made a PS2 port of it in Japan where it's called some long unpronouncable name. It used the Justifier and some special camera that wasn't the eyetoy.

I played both the Japanese and US versions of the game, and the boxing game with the same tech. Fun stuff. I remember being impressed at the time --around the time this thread started...or as some of you younger members called those days, puberty.
