Mike Oldfield played his World Premiere of Tubular Bells II at Edinburgh Castle.

Just thought I'd throw that in whilst I could.

I was there last November for a few days. Truly a beautiful city and prolly one of my favorite stops on my trip. I stayed at Backpackers Hostile (I think?) which was literally right down the stairs from Edinburg castle. Cool place, much nicer than every other hostile I stayed at plus it was the cheapest too.

The only thing though: do you guys have nightclubs and shit there? Seemed all old fashioned so I dunno where they would hide one. You guys also have PUNK ROCKERS there! I couldn't believe it but I was walking around the city around the time school would have let out and there were like a dozen PUNK ROCKERS in 80's punk clothing with spikes and shit. I was like SWEET!

The good clubs tend not to be in the tourist areas so you have to an idea of where to look, just wandering around near the castle you won't score anything too clever by chance, especially since Hasties Close burnt down. Next time you are in town give me a shout.

I used to have a sweet flat on Princes Street with a huge balcony and such looking straight onto the castle, if it wasn't the flat with the best view in the world they must have built a lot of housing around the Taj Mahal.

I walked the entire city, wasn't that big. Looked like a bunch of fast food restaurants, a mall and some shops. Guess I would have to know where to look but I didn't bother since I was there on a Sunday - Tuesday I think.

I've been to Edinburgh 13 years ago. Yes, I went to the castle on the hill overlooking the city.
Last time I visted the castle I left my Luke Skywalker Taun Taun rideing figure there. I remembed my Taun Taun though.
