Thant's funny. My friend modded his Xbox, replaced the HD with at 128 gigger, and has this
program that allows him to fully install any
xbox game he wants. He has over 15 games on his HD, he just rents them, and if he likes them, throws 'em on his Xbox...also there is NO LOADING, not even for Halo, and he drilled a hole
in the top of the case, and mounted a CPU cooling
fan.

I'll have to mention this Gens X to him...

would your friend be able to explain how he did all that? I would be very ionterested in knowing how to do it if he would be willing to share. :D

Mine is identical, only I never installed a CPU cooling fan and my HD is 80 gig.

Since I have access to tons of used XBOX games as a retailer, it's perfect. I have about 25 games installed and a few emulators (Gen, SNES, CPS, Neo Geo, MAME) but this new Genesis emulator sounds great. There are a few Sega CD games and 32X games I'd like to have without getting the hardware.

You only need a bigger HD if your ripping new software to it, for emu's , music, and savegames your fine with the stock setup.

Oh and Ray Neo-geo emulation is pretty buggy, only games under 180megs work right (that number could be wrong) so anyways it very much limits the neo titles you can play.

I think the meg count you displayed is incorrect. Ultimate 11 is part of the Neo emulator and plays just as well as the rest.

The Metal Slug in the mame emu plays perfectly for me so it may have something to do with Ray's available memory.

To be honest, installing a chip in your XBOX and not upgrading the HD is a colossal waste. The chip allows downloading so you never have to look at a cheap copy of a game. It's also the reason I've never chipped my PS2.

True for most people, but I have no intentions of burning games, I'm just in this for teh emu's and r0mz

That's the beauty, though. There's no burning involved, just downloading as if it was in a PC. Thing is, I hate copied games with a passion, which is wgy I never chipped a system before. But with the XBOX, there are no copies involved. I do keep real copies of games for system-link, such as Halo, Timesplitters 2 and Mechassault for my other XBOX, which is stock (and to play online).

A friend of mine who also modded his system after he saw mine also did it for the explicit reason of the emu's, nothing else.

BTW, Maximum Chase is a fantastic game. Shame it isn't here.

Do these mods allow for X-Box Live to work properly?? I already have Live on my X-Box, so I was wondering if it would get erased if I got it modded.....

Live can detect mods. Lots of people who modded their boxes found that they were banned from Xbox Live permanently, so it's better to have a second system just for modding.

Your Live software won't be erased if you stick with the same HD but it can be transfered to and a larger HD should you decide to upgrade.

Problem is, the point would be moot as Live can detect your chip and have you banned permanently.

If you have the funds, unless there is a chip that can be turned off for Live, is to have a second XBOX for online, as I do.

now switches can be installed to turn the modchip on or off. so if you want to go online, just turn off the chip. simple...

I believe that the max meg count is 380megs (1991-1997) & 360megs (1998-current). Though I may be wrong, can anyone get Metal Slug 2 to work?

From what my friend tells me the Gen X emulator is still not up to snuff. A good number of the cream games (IMO) work just fine while others have sound issues and are out of frame. Couple more updates for the Gen X and it should be as nice as the x9SNES emulator drool_2 buttrock

Thanks go to the author...
