I don't know about you, but i've had a woody for this game since i've seen the first screen shots. Sure, it's only got above average reviews, and sure its only more of the same. SURE, it doesnt even look superb...but holy fuck me in the ass if it isn't THE best racing game around!!!!!

I remember a few years back in my Wipeout XL, Red Bull [yes, red bull way back then] induced late night fits with the game. Getting mind fucked by sonic soundscape demiurges like the Future Sound of London, Fluke, and Prodigy. Speeding around turns like a fucking maniac, preparing for them miles ahead. Air breaks, Secret tracks, choose your own music track before the race SHEER GENIUS!

Finally...Fusion comes out tomorrow. I'm going to dance like a mother fucking Jackson when this de-de-de-de-de-de-de-de-de[get it]layed game FINALLY sits in my hands. BT? Future Sound of London? Orbital? What fucking Music!

What a fucking game!!!

And btw, before DriftKing comes in here and sperms on my PS2 thread....I played QUantum Redshift and want that game...just not as much.

WHO ELSE IS EXCITED? I figure Blaine would be into this series...am I wrong?

Peace,
ray

I loved the original Wipeout and XL games . . . really cool control, great tunes, tight action. Fusion sounds cool, but the review I read at Gamespot only gave it a 7.3 and said it was good, but not great. Sounds like it doesn't have the magic that XL had.

What's more interesting is that Fireblade (PS2, Midway) just came out yesterday, and Gamespot gave it a nice review (7.6 and they liked it). Arcade/heli shooter, 3D, now this one sounds like it might be fun . . . as for Fusion, I'll wait till I can play it before making my mind up.

I, too, have worshipped long and hard at the temple that is (was?) the mighty WipeOut series.
As important as it was in the early life cycle of PlayStation, leave it to Sony to completely fuck it up and let it rot on the vine. I think I'm going to end up being content to score it used, or maybe renting it. Now that Psygnosis is just a memory, this is sure to be the last chapter. WipeOutXL will always stand for me as one of the handful of games for PlayStation that actually can be deemed a true classic (RR series, Castlevania, and a couple others.) This should have come out a long time ago, and with a hell of a lot more support behind it. Big FUCK YOU to Sony over letting this true cherry of a franchise wither. They wouldn't know style and raw gaming power if it jumped up and bit em on their undersized cocks.

It won't make me stop playing Wipeout XL. Linked Wipeout XL is why I still have a PS1. Well that and DDR.

Seeing as it was released over here in Europe quite a while ago, I can definitely say I much prefer 2097/XL..

I was really looking forward to Fusion, but it just doesn't "feel" right any more. :(

Counting days for a game is pretty much a big mistake. I did the same thing with CAPCOM vs. SNK 2 for the PS2 JP. I was so insane for the game and once I got it (here's the sad part) it turned out to be pure utter SHIT.

Anyone here plays Wipeout 64 on N64? I am playing it now, it is pretty fast as well, and I am not an expert at wipeout series, but I think the N64 version has different tracks than the PS versions!

Great game!
