As my collection of body art grows, there have been many points when ive thought about taking the art to the more controversial area
on the hands or neck, because of the mixed opinon on this i thought it may be wise to put the idea onto a wider perspective and actually hear opinion from others,i know its my body but id still like to hear some views
on this and possibly tattooing in general,i dont care what you write cos i want you to speak your mind i wont flame you but i may argue back if i think your comment being unfair.

Dude tattooes on your neck can be cool, but overall I wouldn't recommend getting them on your hands at all .

Well according to statistics 50-60% of ALL people who get tattooed regret them,i dont know how true that is but regret seems to be the overall worry, but i take the art very seriously even as far as wanting to tattoo people myself.

Hey man, I got tats myself...all self designed, and thought of. Well, if you would want to get them on your hand, or neck that is totally up to you. Its all personal preference there. Mine, are on my back, and arms.

Its not totally up to me there is a good chance the big boss at where i work could fire me for it,its possible to lose jobs and not be able to get jobs back.

The argument is should i fight for my personal rights.

I think the neck is a cool place to have it! I had a little one on my hand once (only one of the wash of ones) I think it looks cool there as well! The only problem is as you have said, your work! Most people like them out the way! The neck would be but the hand wouldnt! So maybe getting it on the neck would be the best for now! But it is completely up to you!

As for permenant I'm not sure? I have always liked the idea of a tattoo but I have not got them because i would proberly end up regreting them! If you have them already then i bet you dont really mind about that!

If you are still not sure how about the 5 year ones you can get nowadays? If you start to regret it its ok because it will go but if you like it soooooooooo much then after the 5 years you can get it permenant!

What it is,what the primary problem is is the steriotyping of tattooed people by work places,in general the work place will look at an employee and what he sees affects who gets the job,in strolls muggins here for an interview at a high class job,i have visable tattoos and the other guy doesnt, guess who he would pick,he would pick the people who have no tattoos,in the same way he might choose a white guy instead of a black guy,
this is probably the only thing in the way.

Im not knocking steriotyping cos its natural part of human nature, but really i think people should realise that not everyone who has tattoos is a thug or ex convict no matter where the tattoos are,its just fucking coloured ink under the skin for christs sake are they mental or what,i guess they just dont see things from the same prospective as myself.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 5 YEAR TATTOO,
ONCE INK PENETRATES THE SECOND LAYER OF SKIN IT STAYS THERE FOR LIFE BECAUSE IT IS ONLY THE FIRST LAYER THAT SHEDS.A TATTOO WONT LAST 3 WEEKS!IF IT IS NOT PUT DEEP ENOUGH,
WISE UP PEOPLE THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS 5 YEAR TATTOOS,IM WARNING YOU NOW THEY WONT DISSAPEAR!.
Please dont be fooled by a tattooist or person that thinks they can give you a 5 year tattoo, they cant its impossible, they charge you more cos they are playing on the idea, and IMO you deserve it cos your not taking it seriously. But well you have been warned.

To get a little more technical, here is a pic of how a proper tattoo is done:
snknutball-21.gif

You will see that the top layer of your skin is passed through, the next layer is the second where the ink goes, this is also your pigment layer,in black people there first layer of skin is white like ours its there second layer that has the colour,a tattoo works the same by actually changing your pigment,it is safe to say that any ink that goes to the second layer will stay for a long time as it is only the first layer that sheds,it is also safe to say that any ink that doesnt reach the second layer will only last a few weeks as your first layer sheds every 3-4 weeks,so 5 year tattoos are impossible.

Here's my skinny on tattoos.

I remember when I was about 20-21. I wanted to get a biomechanical tattoo on the back of my neck. I thought it would have been wicked cool. I looked at pics of other peoples work and what not, but never went though with it because of the cost.

Looking back on it now, I'm glad I didn't do it. A tattoo like that meant something different to me than it does now. People change in time. When you get a tattoo, it has to be of something eternal and universal, something that will mean the same thing to you at 20 as it does when you are 70.

That's my spin on it. Take it as you will.

As far as neck or hands go, it limits your future employment. That's the big issue most people have with it. Personally, I don't care how people look or what they do, but you know how the corporate world is.
