Did 1984 ever come out on DVD?

I saw the Sundance VHS in HS; it was PHENOMINAL. Not quiet like the book (best novel ever written, IMO), but very close. If I could find it even on tape, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Really obscure.

I have a copy of the VHS. Haven't watched it in a while. It was a good movie.

On a related note, there was a Brave New World movie (TV Movie) back in I think 1999 starring Leonard Nimoy. I'm generally anti-piracy, but if originals don't exist, extreme measures must be taken sometimes. If I had the means, I'd make copies for you.

Hey wait.. Can't you take it in somewhere and have it put on DVD?

No DVD for this Orwellian masterpiece, but I saw it once back in '98 listed as a VCD. Waited too long and the URL for the site was no longer in my drop down listing. But I think the site was Coolvcds.com or something but then again I've done so much business with differing VCD companies it's hard to be sure. I would buy 1984 up on DVD if it was released however. Maybe the UK will release it.

Neither the Michael Anderson directed original, nor the Michael Radford remake are available on DVD.
The latter is available on VHS and Laserdisc (out of print).

Sorry Greg :(

This is the type of film that usually gets the Criterion treatment - so check out their website and shoot John Mulvaney an email.
