yeah i have to write an essay on john steinbeck, the writer of "the grapes of wrath," "of mice and men," and "a bunch of other crap books" (i say it's crap because i don't like his writing style, he always sounds like a pompus hillbilly) anyways i gotta write this essay and i don't know anything about the guy, as in bad things. i've visited all kinds of places but all they do is romanticize this clown like he's some sort of God. so if anyone knows anything about this guy, please tell me.

i dunno man, i thought john steinbeck was pretty goddamn intelligent.

i really liked Of Mice and Men, i thought it was pretty powerful. I didn't read the grapes of wrath, but i heard it was his "masterpiece."

you don't like his writing style? hmm... i never found anything wrong with it, though i don't recall exactly how it went.

Now William Golding... he's a TRUE fuck.

Ever read Lord of the Flies? it's like pounding nails through your dick.

While the story itself is pretty good, it makes for a HORRIBLE reading experience. He takes about six pages to describe how someone scratches their head, and is so INCREDIBLY unclear about everything he says. you need to read each sentence about five times to fully understand what the fuck he's saying... but i digress.

If you want info on steinbeck's books (which i think would be the best thing to do, since that's probably what you're writing about) go to http://www.sparknotes.com

heh I live in his home town , there is a fairly large John Steinbeck museum and a library named after him here. about 15 minutes away from here is Cannery row with Doc Ricketts lab , which is basically a very small one room shack. He is all blown out of perportion here , its like people think the guy was some kind of god , or that he is the only wrighter to walk the earth.

I have tried to read some of his stuff in the past but I just cant get into any of it.Good luck on your report.

have you ever preformed the crucible? i love it i played thomas putnam in my 8th grade theatre clas's presentation of it, and it's actually really good when you get the boring crap out of the way once you really get deep into te charactersyou'll see why it's so highly praised.

that's what i'm saying candycab steinbeck is a pretentious hack. just like mark twain, now henry david thoreau there's a writer that man was a genius i'd go so far as to say he's my favorite author simply because of his transcendentalistic style.

well thanks guys, i just threw together a bull shit essay it should be able to pull it off. i mean my english teacher eats up everything i write she says: "you're a born writer" and all this shit, and i'm just like: "okay" so some of my pure unadulterated red white and blue, all american bullshit, should be able to get me at least a 100.
