ok, it is now 1 week until the biggest soccer event starts, and things are shaping up well (i get coverage of all game here in aussie, and it's not even cable TV! :D )...

but on the downside, my fav team, England, currently has many important players injured, the most notable being David Beckham (captain), and now one by one other good players started to get injured to, suck as Kieron Dyer, Danny Murphy, etc.

is this a sign or something that England might *not* do well on the World Cup? hope not...

i still have faith that Beckham will return just in time to boost the moral of the whole England team, and hope that this time around they can make it into the Finals...

god save the three lions!!!!!

Well Danny Murphy has been sent home because he's not going to recover in time and they've called up Trevor Sinclair (shite).

My only concern is the lack of experience running thru the squad. I think Sven made a big mistake leaving Greame Le Saux out, and perhaps )altho I don't really rate him) Nick Barmby should be there and Phil Neville.

It'll certainly be an experience for the lads, and probably most of them will still be around come 2006.

I still think the best squad we've ever had was the Italia '90 team, and the team now doesn't really come that close.

hey talking about experience, steve mcmanaman does come into my mind, why doesn't Sven use him?

and now, i've heard that the u-21 is going to be called up if many first teamers get injured again, players such as David Dunn would be a great addition to the main squad...

and i can't wait to see if Joe Cole can do the thing that Owen did at 98 that has made him the way he is now... :D

edit: i really hope that Beckham can make it, so he can kick some of those aregentinian's asses :D

England's best chance at gaining the confidence and respect of it's fans is to defeat Argentina, all else is just details. If England survives the group, yet loses in the first knock-out match, as long as they defeated Argentina in one of the qualifying games, the country will forgive them.

Of course, I'm hoping for a different result. ;)

France or maybe Argentina are my favourites.
I would be happy if Spain ends between the first eight teams...

Ray, Steve Mcmanaman is shit at international level. He's a great club player definitly, but he has never been convincing for England. I'm glad he's not in the team because he just wouldn't add anything.

England have had a problem down the left side since John Barnes retired. Dennis Wise was pretty good on the left, but better in central midfield. It's a shame Jason Wilcox was never given full opportunity down the left, because he could have been pretty good.

Of course he could have played Le Saux on the left wing if he'd selected him.

Personally I would have liked to have seen Jamie Redknapp go if he had been fit and playing for Liverpool. I hope he reserects his career at Spurs and gets back into the England team...

Brazil will win probably ........ Greame Le Saux?..... lol .... you gotta be outta here..... and i support Man Utd but i wouldn't put Phil Neville in, he just is not good enough. Mcmanaman.... never produced for England in the past, why trust him now?

Anyway, i don't want to get into a debate on whether England will win and who should play. I hope they do but i wish we would just be honest in saying the England are not the best sportsmen in the world, like the papers think we should be! 20, 30, 100 years ago maybe..... but then we were probably the only ones who bothered back then anyway.

My point is that we are not the best at everything, we will never be the best at anything (We ain't no Master Race!). And the sooner people realise this the better, i wish we could just enjoy sport more. I love Man Utd and like it when they win, but i don't think it's the end of the world when they lose...... and i feel the same with all sports.

Just enjoy the World Cup and marvel in the skill and passion, but armchair critism is just pointless....... and just a final point.

Football Hooligans - Wankers!.... and sad ones at that!... Nuff said.....

argentina, France, Italy and Brazil have the best teams, but betwen them I think Argentina is the strongest side.
I would like to see Portugal get at least to the quarter-finals but that is going to be hard.

ah yess, the left side problem....

if dyer is fit, he would at least be the perfect choice to play in that positioon, if not maybe joe cole can do his job there too...

and what's with this trevor sinclair thing, he's crap, Sven should call up some other left-side player, david dunn, yeah, he's the one...

oh, if only Ryan Giggs still plays for England like he did when he's still a schoolboy...
