Bluevoodu:
this is kind-of a stupid comment.... would the slow load times be a consequence of the burn?
IE... a different disc... or the date not copying over right.... because it had some sort-of copy protection so when copied it makes the CD read on many parts of the disc to get info?

Actually, you're right to a certain extent:
GD-ROMs are pressed with the data starting from the outer-edge of the GD-ROM and it works it's way into the middle. CD-ROMs however, are either burned or pressed so that the data starts from the middle of the CD and works it's way to the outer-edge.
So, when you burn a DC game onto a CD, it is burned so that the data starts from the middle of the CD as opposed to the outer-edge. This creates longer load times since the DC GD-ROM drive starts reading from the outer-edge and works it's way to the middle.
To solve this problem, the method of burning a "dummy" file first was discovered. The dummy file's size should be the equivilant of the size of the game subtracted from the size of the CD. The dummy file is then burned to a CD first, followed by the game's data so that the game's data is on the outer-edge of the CD, thus shortening load times.
Although this method is effective, it still isn't perfect for some reason since no matter what, a real GD-ROM still always has faster load times.
Go figure.
Oh yeah, the reason for the ab-normal load times
might be because this release of the game is a beta. Someone told me that there was a completely finished version (which is what I thought the beta really was, even though it is entitled "beta"), but it hasn't been cracked yet so it wasn't released. However, I can't confirm this.
