Look, I love SNK fighters just as much, if not more, than the average guy on here. But I have to tell you, SSBM is just a fun fun game. How many games do you have that make you both very happy and very pissed off? How many do you have that you say "just one more, okay.. one more game... no, one more than I have to go to sleep". The game's ultra kiddie, I know, but damn if it isn't fun as all hell! And so many many things to unlock. Sheesh.

spike, i gotta agree fully with you,
i like other fighting games too, like kof, sf, cvs, you mention it....

but this 'fighting' game is different from all the other games, while the others is all about getting good score and combos, this one is purely about FUN, it's freakin hillarious to watch peach kick DKs ass until it gets thrown out from the arena (flying HIGH <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[LOL]" /> )

oh, this is also a kind of game that makes you wanna play more and more of it, just like spike says, one more time....

I love this game because you can play it for 15 minutes or 15 hours and still have lots of fun. Kinda like SNK games... ^_^

Samus owns you all.

ed: Is Street any good? I could use a good b-ball game.

I've got NBA Street on PS2, and it's very good. I wonder if they fixed the graphical glitch up where the whole screen sort of distorts now and then (PS2). Still, a great game.

I don't really think of SSBM as a fighting game, to be honest. It's just a fun "action" game, or whatever.

I still can NOT get Luigi. I fought against him a few times, and now when I play Adventure mode, I never fight against him anymore... and I know how (the whole 2 in the second hand time, and what not). Damn it!

It took me a couple tries to get Luigi as well. For some reason the first two times I fought him and then finished the Adventure mode, Luigi was still no where to be found on the character select screen. There is another way to unlock him I believe. I think most of the secret characters can be unlocked after a certiant amount of Versus matches are played, thats how I got a couple of them (mainly Mewtwo).

Only reason I bought a GC before Resident Evil came out was for SSMB, its a great game. This and the original SSB are incredibly fun and addictive multiplayer games.

I've gotten all the levels, characters, and trophies. That took a lot of playtime and work!

To unlock Luigi:

In Adventure Mode, complete the stage with a 2 in the seconds meter (03:12:43 for example). You'll then view a scene where Luigi comes and kicks Mario away so he can fight you with Peach. Defeat them both, then go on and complete Adventure Mode. You'll have to fight Luigi; defeat him and you can play as him.

Wrong. Yeah, that works SOMETIMES, but most the time it does NOT. And therefore, my problem. I don't even continue in easy and very easy, and three times I got to him playing on hard. Now, I go through it, see him replace mario and that whole deal... I get to the end, and it's the end. He doesn't challange me anymore. I wonder if I blew my chance to unlock him this way, or if it's random?

weird...

i did exactly the way kaedesblade mention, go thru the adventure mode, i remember it being easy or very easy, just play normally, no special thing...

and in the end, when you suppose to grab the flag (correct?), i did it with a 2 in the seconds stuff, get the scene, Luigi came in, i beat him, finish the adventure without continuing...

and bam!, he's there to be selected....

and yes, i get him on my first try...

That's the best thing about Nintendo: their games are "kiddie" for sure, but they are damn funny and addictive! They've been always masters at doing funny games. All they need now is some third parties to develop some "serious" games and we'll have the perfect console.

Has anyone else ever noticed that SSBM is almost exactly the Nintendo version of KoF?

But, yeah. I have way too much fun with this game myself. Me and my friends used to bring the N64 and hog the use of the TV at school. Now, we brnig the GC and hog the TV at work. I must have burned about 5000 hours on that game...

But my favorite character is Marth. For the following reasons;
...He is not overlypowerful.
...his throws suck...
...his moves are fast...
...he has that kick ass counter move...
...he is a total skill character since he has no real advantage other than the range of his sword...
...his black color has given me the nickname of "Darth Marth"...
...I really have a thing for sword users (non-sexual, mind you... suck thinkers)...

Other than that, I like the game. I hate Kirby ever since the first one. Samus is cool, too. Link is still my original sword user. I hate Ness. I'm trying to master Mewtwo because he's hard to play but all his moves look really cool. AND the Luigi thing works all the time if you have the timer as shown: ##:#2:## or play 800 vs games.

You HATE Ness? He's my best and favorite character! I think it doesn't hurt that I love Earthbound too. ;)

Great game!

Roy is probably my best character, although I've been trying to get better with Mewtwo... Ness is okay, I've just never really gotten good with him. Scoff if you must, but I think Pichu is a really good fighter, fast, and easy to do quick KOs with Thunder (which seems to do more damage than Pikachu).
