Sorry for the poor picture quality, it's a scan from a german magazine. Even so, it looks unbelievable. With graphics like these, it surely can't be long until photo realistic graphics are upon us.

Amazing how technology has come so far forward in such a short time...look at how long the jump from 2d to 3d took...

Best looking game ever.

With each new screenshot this game keeps looking better and better.

It's almost impossible to believe that we are looking at a game, and not some new CG generated movie.

Wow! That looks great...

If the finished product looks that good, I just might get back into FPS. I loved the first Doom, but not the second. Lets hope the third is worth it!

Doom III will be a great tech demo, I'm really looking forward to seeing what kind of games are going to license the engine.

I picked up the game demo that was leaked, and WOW!!!! But still anyh00 its an amazing game but i have a geforce 4 and it still stoped at certian times, didnt help that I cranked up the texture quality all the way. Its a fantastic game, especially when the imp jumps right infront of you and starts ripping you to shreads.

I only got to watch the cinema and play the first three levels though, and fight the big baddy you see in that MAC convention movie that trudges down the lighted hall

I can't wait for Doom 3 to come out. I usually don't get excited about computer games but wow, i have faith in ID and Doom 3 looks to be awesome. I downloaded the leaked alpha of the game awhile ago and that just go me more excited. Sure it played like crap and really wasn't meant to be played but it was cool just to look at those shadows. Man those shadows are great.

Anyone know how powerful your system will have to be to play it? I had heard you would need a 1ghz processor and that would be for the minimum requirements. I might use doom 3 as an excuse to get another 512 stick of ram or a faster processor.

The word you are attempting to use, albeit erroneously, is eyesore. This word is meant to characterize something that is unpleasant to look at, and while the... er... gentleman in that screenshot is not going to win TIME's Man Of The Year, the quality of that picture is amazing.

Oy some of us ain't even that advanced...I'm still in the "stone age" with my GeForce2. I've been holding off buying a new card 'cuz I dread getting one only to find it's not fast enough to play something Doom III (similar incidents have happened way too much in the past for me).

With my new PC setup I should be able to run it no problem, but it looks like I'm going to have to upgrade my GeForce4 to get it to look like that.

I think it will be worth it.

That's not cool, don't say things like that even in jest.

It sure looks cool, the lighting looks wrong to me... that seems to be the only thing holding us back from getting really amazing looking CG. I mean, texture wise it looks amazing, but everything is lit weird, look at his hand/claw... looks chinsey... And I don't like the way the shoulder connects to the torso... looks like a tear. Still, this game is an amazing leap forward in computer graphics... And this is sill beta quality... there is still work to be done improving it! Just think, 3 years from now this will look terrible to us... hehe, and we will wonder why we even thought it looked good. Man, technology is amazing,

If this does come to XBOX, how much will it be degraded? [/QB]
I would imagine 90% of PC users won't be able to run it at this level either. The X-Box version will be degraded to the same level as a mid-range PC. Everyone has a fair idea of what their PC setup is capable of graphics-wise, obviously good programming can help but a new game isn't going to make things look any better. I'll have to spend at least £400 to get my PC up to the standards necessary to run this but the X-Box will make a decent fist of it straight out of the box and probably for $100 by the time Doom 3 is released.

Looks like its shaping up well graphically ,hopefully the game will be worth playing as well as looking at. I wouldnt be to worried about your pc being able to handle the game , sure you may not be able to turn on all the bells and whistles but Im willing to bet when this game is released it will run smoothly on almost any pc , id isnt going to shoot them selves in the foot bye dropping a game into the market that 80% of the gaming public cant play due to having a pc that isnt right on the cutting edge performance wise.

As far as the leaked beta that is out there, I wouldnt use that as any idea on how this game will run once its released , remember its a beta and its most likely not optimized for any video cards or cpu's at this point.
