When I was about 12 I had just came home from riding my bicycle at the park and as I was walking into the hallway with my bike in hand I saw a silhouhette of a person that was totally transparent ...it looked like smoke ...it ran into the bathroom at the end of the hallway I was so friggin scared I dropped my bike and ran out of the house .

I came in later with my mom who was holding a broomstick not knowing weather or not it was a intruder ...but I know what I saw ..

My best friends father had passed away a week earlier .

Not ghosts ghosts. Not the kind where they are just see-through, ethereal, blue people floating around knocking dishes on the ground and scaring the cat. I don't believe in that.

HOWEVER, energy can never, ever die. It just transforms. So, I think that your energy, your "aura" exists after death. Whether it can cause freaky things to happen or form a representation of your ol' body is another story...

You know how you can drag your fingers across the carpet and create designs out of the play of light on the fibers?

A girl I know had returned home to her [suspected to be] haunted home one day, to find the word "hello" written all over the [read: covering the entire] carpet.

No one was home at the time, and no one had been home.

The same "hello" was written on her mirror during a shower, and the door which she locked became unlocked.

Pretty good friend of mine; no reason to lie to me. She seems very, very sincere whenever she talks about it...which isn't often.

No to argue about your friends credibility but I used to play a trick on my cousin where I would dip my finger in clear soap and write something on the mirror and let it dry ...the image only shows after steam hits it .

fun trick

When I was about 3, I remember watching this little known documentary called ghostbusters. It was about these three university professors and a black guy who actually captured ghosts with theses nuclear devices. How could you not believe after that. I don't know how they got some of those shots.

I wonder if they can ever be able to capture a dracula on camera??

Yeah, its a weird topic, because on the one hand all of us want to believe there is something after our death. That, even when we die there will be a place or something for us. But, at the same time you have to relize that if there are ghosts, they are probably not the hollywood type that we see in the movies... probably more like the energy experienced above.

Now... I don't really know to much about this or that, but I know I have been in one place that truly freaked me out.

It was an old apartment I shared with a roomate in FL. It was a decent sized place, 2 bedroom, huge rooms, big living room. It was nice, and cheap, but I always felt weird in my roomates room... like something was in there with me... it creeped me out.

He said he could feel it sometimes to, but he didn't really think about it much... that was enough to creep me out more! Not to mention, the dog wouldn't go in that room at all, and would sometimes growl in the door way! Anyway, my roomate moved out, he basically ran out of money and had to move back in with his parents. I decided to keep the place, since I still had the lease and I could cover the rent easily.

I lived there 6 months longer... I never used that bedroom, but to store a vacuum cleaner. And when I would retrive it all the lights had to be on and I would run in, get it and get out. No joke, I felt that uncomfortable about the room. A few weeks before I moved out, I droped a few bottles of vitamins behind the fridge when I was cleaning. I pulled the fridge out to retrive them and underneath it was a nice big satanic symbol (pentagram) carved into the floor. It kind of all mad sense... I felt like something had happened in that room... something bad. And it left an imprint on the room... ANYWAY... I am just going on and on here... I never saw a ghost, but, I do think people can effect a place forever, maybe it is along the same lines,

That soap trick is a good idea.

All ghosts should be like Ben Kinobi.

Yeah I believe in ghosts.
I've heard stories about a haunted
Chuck E. Cheese's and a haunted
Toys R Us growing up. I was always
extremely fascinated with ghost stories
growing up... and still am today to a
certain degree.

Nothing will ever beat out talking about
ghosts and ghouls at night time with several
good friends. I swear, it's moments like
that that for me anyhow, define the good
times in life.

Have I ever seen a ghost? Nah.
Did I used to wish I would? Yeah.

I remember watching shows like "Sightings"
and when they do those creepy ghost segments,
I'd ALWAYS feel this chilling feeling run down
my spine....

In some cases its been documented that ghosts will leave a cold trail of air in their presence, and I'm not talking about Sixth Sense bullshit here, I read/heard this long before that movie was even a blip on the radar(I used to be REALLY into ghosts/paranormal when I was younger). A few times in my life I've been touched with a waft of extremely icy air, even when its been room temperature or warmer in the room, and with no A/C vents to be found anywhere near me.

EDIT: As an afterthought, and a far more abstract idea, it is possible that all living persons have some form of connection to the "afterline" or the "other-side" but that we all have different ways of manifesting that connection (I.E.- Cold air, messages written on the carpet, visions, etc)

yeah my town is in the english ccountryside and there is a medievil monument called the golden ball. Its at the peak of a big grass hilltop and is a glorified graveyard for historical figures.

The atmosphere is wonderful but I always feel sorry about the dead and I always respect their graves

Whoa, that brings back tons of memories for me. When I was a kid I watched this show about ghosts on TV, and it was a CC Camera filming a bathroom in a Toys R Us. This woman would turn off the faucet, and then it would turn back on again, she did this repeatedly. Sure, it doesn't sound like much, and if it were on Candid Camera people would find it hilarious, but it was on a show about ghost sightings and it freaked me out, for weeks I'd grown concerned of the possibility that some ghost is going to turn on the faucet when I go to the bathroom in a Toys R Us. eek!

Edgar Cayce, phophet and psychic, and some parapsychologists think ghosts have less to do with phantoms, and media images, and more to do with the person who sees the ghost.

From the standpoint of psychologists, ghosts are merely manifestations of our own unconscious desires and repressions.

In other words, they exist - in a symbolic way. They are personal and mean different things to different people.

For example, an old man in a suit with a hat and tie appearing to you as a ghost may signal thoughts about a dead grandfather you miss. Still to another person, this ghost may represent worries of growing old.

Whatever the case, it's something to think about. Only one possible explaination.

Well one time when I was growing up, maybe 8 or 9 years old my family got up at the normal hour to get ready for work and school when all of a sudden we noticed that someone had taken this MONSTROUS shit in our toilet and didn't flush it. When I say monstrous I mean one of those 15 inch logs that miraculously comes out in one piece. We all thought it was a ghost but it turns out we were robbed and one of the thieves took a shit and didn't flush it so he wouldn't wake us up.

We were robbed a lot back then, like once a month. Garden Grove rocks. buttrock

My grandma thinks her house is haunted. She claimes to hear footsteps in the attick at all hours of the day and the smell of burning candles at the end of the hallway and up the stairs to the attick. She's old though, and senile.
