how many NEO GEO cart systems sold?

I was wondering how many NEO GEO cart systems / AES's have been sold, worldwide, and also just in the U.S., since it came out in 1990?

are we talking in the hundreds of thousands, or in the millions (if millions, not many million!)


Also, what about the Neo CD?

Seeing as how the serial numbers go upwards of 330,000 , I would assume that at least that many systems were sold.

Back in 1999 a German site reported total units of 450,000, this included all new systems made and unsold.

That sounds right - I was going to guess around 500,000-600,000
