It's on PS and so-called "Castlevania Chronicle". This game is based on Japanese PC version of Castlevania.

Why you guys get confused? I'm not talking about DC Castlevania. I'll only play Konami of Japan, not crappy US division one.

GBA version of Castlevania is great.....as good as PS Castlevania-SOTN

Let's hope the PS version of X68000 is more fun...

Contra? You'd better ask Treasure for find out, not Konami. The team behind Contra is now-known Treasure.
Have you played two PS Contra games? Why Konami let British company to develop Contra game? Contra is one of the trademark Konami games!! You know why, right? Coz the team behind it is gone and established its own company.
Sin and Punishment reminds me of a little bit Contra.....about 15%.
I remember once I read an article about Treasure, one of the producer mentioned that they are tired of making same old stuff over and over. Konami wants them to make sequel of Castlevania, Contra and other so-called "money-making" titles and that's the reason they left. They want to create something unique and more creativity.

We might not see Contra for a while......:<

I played (Or tried to play) Legacy of War awhile back. I was so disappointed in how the game didn't measure up to the Alien Wars, I threw it away without a second thought. Sad to hear that. Oh well. I still have Castlevania and Gradius Gaiden to peek my interest.

If Konami wants to keep Contra going- they need to keep Appaloosa away from the franchise. Why have they given it to the makers of Ecco The Dolphin? Not to knock ETD, but I hardly think Contra was one of Appaloosa's main projects.

Here's another idea... perhaps Konami of Japan should take a whack at it on their own. Even without the original Contra team, I am sure they'd do better than Appaloosa.

Today it's been MANY YEARS since Treasure last touched Contra (Contra III is 9 years old now). Back in 1994, soon after Treasure left Konami- we got Gunstar Heroes. Maybe Treasure wouldn't mind now? If they teamed up with Game Arts for Silpheed, then why can't they team up with Konami now for one more Contra?

If this doesn't happen, I'd rather have Konami hand the Contra franchise over to SNK. Look at Metal Slug (although to be a real Contra game, it's got to have diagonal firing).

I think Konami can still do Contra (Look at Genesis Contra: Hardcore) but they have tons of "money making" titles in hand : Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Castlevania, Goemon, Gradius, and others.

Why I think Konami can do Contra without Treasure? Look at Castlevania and Goemon games as examples.

Those two titles have been developed by five different Konami divisions (Konami Kobe, Konami Tokyo, Konami Osaka, Konami Japan, and Konami Nagoya) so I assume Konami has ability to do Contra but they're not interested in it right now..........

Just my two cents..........

Really?

SOTN was pretty deep, what's the scoop on this one? Are there multiple paths or characters?

I saw it at E3 but I was leaving, so I only got to see a little....

Yeah, you'll have the same kind of map just like SOTN. It's hard to figure out some hidden routes.
After you beat the game, 4 or 5 modes will come up......fun.

Silent,

I'm thinking about ordering this one, but my PS has a 1st generation mod-chip (not the stealth chip). Any idea if the game will run or not? I really don't want to have to get a new chip to play this game. Please post compatibility info if you can.

Thanks

My PS is first generation, too. I installed mod chip 4 years ago (this is the only system I have got moded)and I have no problem playing any game. Even though I've read articles talking that moded PS console can't play certain games (such as Capcom Dino Crisis, Square's FF 8) but I have no problem at all. My machine has no overheat or other first generation console problems has and it runs like a new one.

I haven't heard Konami will have some kinda code to lock out moded PS machine so I assume you can play on your machine too.

I don't worry about it coz I have JPN PS2 <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I'll post any news if anything happens.

Silent,

Please do post a reply to this thread. I have a modded 2nd gen PSX. I believe it has a 1st or 2nd gen chip in it. It would not play dino crisis, or Strider 2. According to a major online retailer

"Please be aware that many recent releases, particular ones published by Capcom, Konami, and Sony, feature modchip-detection scripts that are executed during the loading process. Should the scripts detect that a system
has a modchip installed in it, the scripts would not allow the game to load."

So, i'm worried about Castlevania Chronicles. The ONLY reason I modded my system was to play Gradius Gaiden. Why Konami mainly releases crap in the US and ignores the gamers that got them where they are today is beyond me. They used to be so great. This is one company that is merely a shadow of their former selves.

Please keep us updated or email me directly

Thanks!

Don't forget about the gameshark. I would say wait a few days before importing. Hopefully someone will have posted the gameshark codes which will bypass the mod chip lockout.

The gameshark modchip bypass codes started with ff8.

I have PS import strider 1&2 and I have no problem playing it (even Dino Crisis). I've never seen any warning screen saying you cant' play this game on moded PS machine.

My system was moded by one defunct online videogame store 4 years ago (I forgot the name of that store). It took me almost 2 months to get my console back coz when the time I shipped my console to that store, it's about to closed the business. I was worry that the owner will not ship my system back but fortunately he did. My system can run anything and have no problem til now. Gosh......my PS is about 6 years now.

Sure, I'll post once I get my copy in hand.

Thank goodness for the Game Shark.

When I got Guitar Freaks, I understood full well that it had the modchip detection in it- so the next thing I ordered was the Game Shark Pro.

Some games crash if a Game Shark Pro is used (i.e. In The Hunt). The chipped PS1 is just used for imports now. Domestic games go in my PS2.
