You guys seem to have a pretty good taste in videogaming soundtracks!

I love almost every game/franchise you guys quoted above.

They simply rock.

Turrican are definitelly some of the very best. Chris Huellsbeck is like a magician ! wink

YESSSSSSSS.
Smartest man.
Turrican has amazing, kick ass music.

Other than that, Final Fantasy is probly the most important franchise in terms of soundtracks, to me.

I just wanna feel the magic of chris musics and blast again like in the good old Amiga times! :D

Final Fantasy destroys everything else. It's the only thing I can actually listen to in my car. But, other than that:

Castlevania
Street Fighter remixes
Turrican
Samurai Showdown
Chrono Trigger
...er, pretty much anything Squaresoft, really...
Zeldas
Quakes
Unreal
Need for Speed series
Gran Turismo
Grand Theft Auto III Vice City

There are a TON of other memorable ones, like Mega Man, and Mario, which capture the mood and style of the game perfectly, but I'm trying to guage what could stand on it's own, and be sold as a CD.

Panzer Dragoon series

I managed to download the entire soundtrack to Saga, before they took it offline. I doubt you'll find the Mp3's on kazaa. Two CD's worth of awesome music.

Final Fantasy ST's are not my style, but I reckon they fit perfectly in those games.

The "outer world" from FF X is terrific!

But as for RPG's music, I'm more for Phantasy Star IV, brilliant melodies!

So sad nobody mentions this amazing RPG! wink

Can't believe no one mentioned SFII (Arcade) or Contra (NES) or Megaman 2 (NES).

Those games have great soundtracks IMO.

Same for ThunderForce III on Genesis. Wowzers. eek!

Oh, How could I forget?

The absolute best soundtrack ever is Sonic CD...the US version. NOt that bullshit, trashy Jap garbage.

Spencer Nilsen went to town for the US version; its a time capsule that serves as a look back to the early 90's. Such amazing music, I can't believe no one has mentioned it.

The Mr Driller Series (Drill Land for GC in particular) has some of my favorite music to date... it's a beautiful fusion of classical and electronic instruments...

Castlevania
Last Blade - the games do have quite a few ambient tracks but the music that's there is great.
Fatal Fury
Sonic R - yeah, it's cheesy, but I like it for some reason.
Shinobi
Jet Set Radio
