Kazuya is back...

As for Jin, I think he may be a goner. Bad things happen to him in the endings of Tekken 3.

What Namco REALLY needs to do is bring out Crisis Zone 2 (or Time Crisis III) on the System 246. I give Namco even more credit for their gun games.

I just can't go along with the Tekken juggles.Well first of all I have to get over the fact that the game is shit and the graphics needs improving

But the other Namco games are great. It's just Tekken that I have a problem with

If you go to the Playstation 2 section of ign.com, they have more info on Tekken 4 including an opening movie.

I always prefered Dead Or Alive, Fighting Vipers and Virtua Fighter to Tekken anyway.

Here's hoping they add a few changes to the Tekken engine. Limited ring sizes would be nice, and I'd also like an 8-way movement system similar to what Sega's trying in VF4. Blow-away distances would have to be shortened however ( think for a moment about Paul's classic throw where he knocks someone basically half a screen away <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> )

You know, I'll never understand what people see in Tekken. I played the original - it was okay. I played Tekken 2 - it was pretty good. I went so far as to buy the PS version. I played Tekken 3 - it was a more attractive version of T2. Whatever innovation it had (side throws, side stepping, whatever) was so minor it made little to no difference in the gameplay. People complain that SF and KOF stay the same each title; yet they flock to this fugly title.... Tekken Tag's sole redeeming feature was that if you lost one fighter you lost the round. Other than that it was more of the same - or even worse a half assed excuse to drag the characters cut from T3 into the game (ala Ultimate Mortal Kombat - there's a title you want to be compared to). I know all fighting series essentially reuse the same system for the sequels, but Tekken isn't a KOF/SF/VF - it doesn't have the solid engine that those games do. It's hard to believe the same people that make Soul Caliber make Tekken - what a difference. Tekken 4 should be subtitled: 'Couldn't Care Less'.

I really don't care what your opinion is about Tekken but you can't blame the fact that Tekken is starting to get a little bit more popular than other fighting games today. I like the Tekken series, especially Tekken Tag Tournament, and everywhere I go people talk about Tekken. So you really can't say and justify that Tekken is just another "Mortal Kombat".
To prove my point, why don't you buy a PS2 and Tekken Tag Tournament and see if it really good or not.

I wanted to see what all the noise was about so I got a PS2 and Tekken Tag(of course I waited and found one for $35!) I'm glad I didn't pay $50 for it. It's fun until I unlock the particular characters after that it's dull. I hate to compare this game with a KOF considering the 2d/3d thing but I will here just to prove a point. My point? Well, I play most of my fighting games alone. I can play through KOF99 several times in one sitting with the same team and have fun. I can't do that with TTT. I've tried. I don't know what it is, but I just can't seem to do it. I get bored.
Like I said before I feel kinda bad comparing a 2d game to 3d but graphics do not a game make(for me) so it all comes down to gameplay.
I also agree with Krizalid. The ONLY reason I got Tekken3 was because of King. I like doing his multithrows <IMG SRC="smilies/glee.gif" border="0"> otherwise you can have the game. I once went to the TTT board on gamefaqs and asked why one would want to purchase this game. Needless to say I didn't get any decent answers.
For me If I want a tag game i'll play DOA2.

Incidentally, is it just me or has anyone else noticed that there have been very few PS2 games that are actually WORTH $50?
Onimusha comes close, but it was still too short for me. <IMG SRC="smilies/spock.gif" border="0">

For one thing, Tekken has BEEN more popular than any fighter out there for some time. Almost all arcades have Tekken; considerably more than have SF or KoF games. Tekken is very popular among the more mainstream gamers. And it's that popularity that I don't understand. While I prefer 2D fighters over 3D, there are still a number of 3D fighters that are far better than Tekken (SC, DoA, VF) but don't enjoy the same popularity.

I never said Tekken was another MK. I said Tekken Tag is essentially a half-assed update like Ultimate Mortal Kombat was. TTT's two main features are the tag battle and return of the cast-off T2 characters. I don't mind the tag aspect (as I stated in my earlier post). But it's not enough to interest me in Tekken's bland gameplay. And neither are the return of characters who are essentially diluted clones of the normal characters.

Eventually I will buy a PS2, but I won't be buying TTT. Why? I've played the arcade version multiple times and found the experience to be 'okay' at best - and 'good' is a far ways from 'okay' (not to mention really good). The Tekken gameplay just doesn't interest me - be it one-on-one or tag team. Tekken peaked at #2, and the series doesn't have the deep gameplay needed to get by with minimal updates. Unless they radically change the gameplay, the series will continuely fail to interest me in the least.
