I don't care whether or not you're Pro-War, or Anti-War, so please don't turn this into a flame war. The bottom line is, our troops are over there, and could use our support.

So, to whoever wants to help:

The company I work for was collecting stuff to send care packages to family memeber of people who work here that are over in Iraq right now. I thought that was a pretty nice thing to do to show our support.

I too sent a care package out yesterday.

The site I listed has typical items that soldiers request, so if you need ideas, check it out.

So does the soldier you send it to get to keep it? How is this stuff dispersed?

And what's with the Twizzlers candy? Is that a favorite over there?

I don't understand the purpose of that site. Couldn't we do this on our own? Are they just trying to spread the word or something?

At first I thought that they were just taking packages and sending as one big bulk, but why the hell do they have this site if we have to send it to them, then turn around and send them money for them to send it themselves. I don't understand.

They do send it in bulk; but its not free.
So they ask for donations.
I dont get what the big deal is.

So they are sending bulk donated goods to the troops over there? That makes sense.

I thought they were just telling you to get a name and address of a soldier over there and send them some items.

And you don't have to go through them to do that. There are a ton of local places you can go to and basically donate all you want free of charge.

Even though I loathe our Commander-In-Thief, our men and women fighting out there deserve our praise and respect. When I get paid, I'm gonna either send a donation or create a box.

Yesterday I had a chat with a customer who came in looking to buy a GameBoy for his brother who is out there. Apparently he'd emailed asking for one. I hope he ends up getting it safely.

Apparently they do not want the "To Any Soldier In Any Unit, Bumfuq, Iraq" type packages sent due to possible terrorism. So I am going to get in touch with some military folks and get the actual name and addy for some folks over there and just send something for their unit, so the box has a specific name and address.

That being said, on the radio last night they are actually asking people to slow down on care packages, as there is apparently a five week backlog waiting to be delivered. I am going to give it a couple of weeks, then send one.
