Am I the only one who likes this band on the forums? I figure that most of you guys enjoy old metal instead of new, So this is why I ask if you liked Slipknot..

Mudvayne is pretty decent.
I was so surprised theyre that musically talented. At first I chalked them up to mere gimmick, but both their cds are so fucking good, its insane.

If the lead singer stopped screaming, and sung more, they could take over the world. He's got a great voice.

I like Slipknot quite a bit. I don't see it as pure gimmick I think alot of it is being bored living in the middle of nowhere. Whatever though I don't care what a band looks like.

Have you heard them live? I'm judging them (like I do every band) by how they play live, and they're a horrible live act. It seems they're more concerned about running around in jump suits and masks jumping up and down then actually playing something worth listening to. It's like one big jumble of noise mess.

I've seen em live twice. The first time at Ozzfest was not overly impressive. The second time though on the Pledge of Alleigence tour I thought they played really well.

Like 'em. Seen 'em live. The pits were harder at Manson though, to tell the truth, which surprised me.

Like Mudvayne more, though. My old boss was best friends with them, so I met them a bunch of times.

Slipknot exists on gimick alone. If they didn't wear the costumes they'd still be bar band fodder in Iowa to this day.

Yeah, and?
Glenn's been doing his own thing since before the guys in Slipknot were out of diapers.
Glenn does what he wants when he wants. He doesn't bow down to any marketing stragties, record lables or Radio stations. He's not reliant on gimicks and "Silly Costumes" (Yes, he's taken to wearing those goofy rubber gloves which are amazingly silly) to get the job done. Years from now, when people have comepletely forgotten who and what Slipknot was Glenn will still be there.

I used to like them alot. I remember distributing demo tapes before the first album came out. But slipknot could title every song "Fuck You" and it would make sense. Bands that focus on pessimism (Slipknot, Staind etc..) really get on my nerves after a while, and it all winds up sounding the same. So, I will just say I am "tired" of slipknot.

To Corey Slipknot isn't noting but a front for Stone Sour anyway. Stone Sour was Corey's band before he joined Slipknot. Corey spend years trying to get Stone Sour off of the gound but never could. When he was asked to join Slipknot he let Stone Sour go for awhile until he felt the time was right to bring it back again. And they said that once the masks came off that Slipknot would be done for good. But like ICP Slipknot has enough fans that they don't have to worry about the mainsteam.

I love slipknot, and I have since I got their demo way back when I was in high school. My roommate and I saw them live at the myriad in Oklahoma City, and I have to say that it was the best live metal performance that I have ever got the opportunity to witness. I got in for free, and saw mudvayne, ultraspank, and slipknot. Slipknot blew every other band there out of the water. On a down note I got spiked in the back in the mosh pit, and slipknots roadie hit me in the balls with a water bottle. Oh well, you got to take the bad with the good I suppose.

Best F'n OzzFest ever!!! My gawd it doesn't get better than that... maybe except for the Tattoo the Earth Festival that one year.

So let me recap OzzFest '99 for those who were not there

Static X
System of a Down
Godsmack (TRASH that shouldn't have been there)
Deftones
PRIMUS
Slayer
Slipknot
Rob Zombie
Black Sabath
And I think HedPE and Fear FActory were there.

Has anyone seen AMEN before? Now that is a feckin' sick show! I supose all this is kinda' weird coming from a guy named Criterionradiohead...

Criterionradiohead wink
