Your asking price is way too low. Don't think it's possible. Mine was about $2400.00 and that was a steal.

Make sure that, whatever set you get, it supports 720p.

Most HDTV sets supports 480i, 480p, and 1080i, which is fine if you have a set-top box that converts signals to 1080i. However, 720p is quickly becoming the de-facto standatd for HDTV videogames, and is also becoming popular because a lot of fixed pixel displays support 1280x720p native.

Make sure the set you get supports 480i/480p/720p/1080i.

How about this one? It's easily the best value I've seen so far for a widescreen HDTV even if it only has 1 s-video input. But hey, you can always get one of those high quality s-video/AV selectors so there won't be a loss in quality.

Those Sammy sets are really nice, but that model doesn't support 720p. :(

Here are the specs:

Damn I didn't know big screen (widescreen) TVs were so cheap.

Maybe I've been clouded with plasma screen prices,..

Stay the HELL away from RCA TV's....I sell electornics and I can tell you that they are crappy...

stick with Toshiba, Hitachi, or Sony (Sony being the crappy one of the three)

And don't be scared to spend a little more money now...a TV is an long term investmet :D

MINDGAME is right; stay away from RCA.

One good thing the RCA set has, though, is DVI input that supports HDCP. If you're planning on using your set for HDTV, you'll likely end up needing an HDCP-capable DVI port in the near future. Also, HD-DVD will likely use DVI as well.

IMO, if you're planning to play videogames on the set, stick with a direct-view set (like the Samsung mentioned earlier), or move up to an LCD or DLP based model. The direct-view won't be as easily affected by burn-in as a CRT-based projection or plasma set, and LCD and DLP technologies aren't affected at all. The LCD and DLP options will be waaaaay more than you want to spend, though.

In response to my last post. My bad. I assumed you were looking for a direct view. Projection tvs are always cheaper. I have a 34" tube widescreen progressive scan Panasonic. DVDs, especially those superbit ones and games look awesome. Dreaming of a 42" inch model, no wait, 50incher now. I'm greedy, I know.

Nothing wrong with Toshiba. I have the 24AF42 and it kicks ass. Of course my tv it less then a third of that one... But the picture is great.
