I've heard Love Story was sad but I've never seen it. Actually, I've never even heard of it before that episode of Becker.
Jack was sad but I watched it when I was like 8, now I hate that old fart.

not really a completely sad movie, but the sadest scene in a movie had to be from saving private ryan when the medic dies. (who could forget where the red fern grows)

Yeah, I really love sad endings...or..bittersweet endings, I guess...
I love it when the hero dies. They accomplish what they wanted, but it shows true devotion if they lose their life to achieve their dream.
Truly happy endings are uninteresting...well..unless the rest of the story is sad.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon had a good ending, I thought...it was kinda sad.
Anyone seen Ran? That ending is TOO sad.
I like being able to cry during a movie, though.

Ever seen LOLITA?Whats messed up is that the guy dies at the end of the movie in jail and the girl dies in the hospital giving birth at almost the same time.Whats worse is that he truly loved her but she never did and just used him.She even was cheating behind his back.Even when she was pregnent with some other guys baby he still loved her. That movie is too fucking sad.I cant watch it twice in a row...too sad.

Yeah, sad movies can be ok, it's got to be a good sad movie, of course...

Movie that me cry hardest was "Dead Man Walking", I cried so much, after movie ended, I had to hustle to bathroom to blow my nose, bleh.

Movie "Glory" makes me teary-eyed all the time too, mostly cuz I know all those guys are gonna get wasted at the end, hehe. Lots of people call soldiers stupid or excessively nationalstic or whatever, but those guys were fighting for something they believe in, you know.

I hate the fact that my blockbuster has EDWARD SCISSORHANDS in the comedy section.WHAT THE FUCK?! Sure the movie has a few funny parts but on a whole its a sad love story sorta beauty and the beast esque. Its sad that after they departed they never saw each other again. She got old and he stayed in his castle making ice scultures of her.I really could relate to edward in that movie.Whats interesting is when I first saw that movie it was snowing out and it could be seen out the window. If you've seen EDWARD SCISSORHANDS then you know about the snow part. The movie had a great soundtrack too(by danny elfman I believe).

My pick for saddest movie, yet it's so awesome and well done is Grave of the Fireflies.

I had this girl I was dating sit and watch this with me one time. I figured I'd get her a little emotional, wanna lean on my shoulder, that kinda' crap. Problem was, when the movie was over, she's completely unphased by it, and sitting there sobbing like a big fat sissy! You talk about embarassing, she was handing me a kleenex! Whoo boy, talk about a "plan" backfiring...

Anyway, this movie gets to me so bad, poor little Setsuko, and Seita tried so hard, but to no avail... Just goes to show that the kids pay for the sins of the parents...

Jeremy Irons, deserves to die in real life!

But I digress.
I did find Kirks death scene in Star Trek Generations quite upsetting!

Metal.

Cool, I'm not the only grown man that weeps like a baby when I see this movie! LOL

In fact, I don't really watch it anymore, because I don't want my room mate seeing me cry (nevermind to a frickin' cartoon)!!

This movie is the sadest thing you will ever watch on your television. If you have any bit of human inside you, you will be very sad and/or depressed after this one. I guess your girlfriend is just an android, or something?

I have a tie for second saddest. Let's just put it this way: I know of only three movies that make me cry. Grave of the Fireflies (duh), and a two way tie for second would be "Coccoon" and "Green Mile". I turn into a big pile of tears with all three of these. Actually, Lou Gojira, when I went to see Green Mile with my GF, *I* was the only one crying! LOL.

Some man I am?

I LOVE Grave of the Fireflies for that.
I love it when animation/comics are able to stir that kind of extreme emotion in me. That means they're working.
A lil offtopic, but Utena (The manga, haven't seen all of the anime yet) was enough to make me teardrop a bit heh.

Lou, you took the words out of my mouth. She must have been some kind of android or something not to cry at any point in that movie. She didn't even cry when Sieta had to prepare and cremate Setsuko by himself? That's awful. I was weeping like a baby.

I would like to add Schindlers's List to the, um, list. I don't cry during the movie, but at the very end when Oscar Schindler, after everything he did still feels like he should have given up more to save a few more people. Or when all of the survivors and their descendants are walking toward the grave and then placing stones on the marker. That just really gets me.

Jeez Iori, sorry none of us fit the stereotype of "I never cry at anything, and I drink my breakfast, drink my lunch, and have a pack of smokes for dinner" I didn't say I watched these movies and inserted a tampon in my ******, I said I cried at a sad part in 2 movies. I didn't talk about floral print and redecorating, I talked about a powerful movie that should make every human being cry. If Schindler's List didn't at least make you feel depressed for at least a minute, there is something wrong with you. Do you have any brothers or sisters who have nothing but love for you? If you did, you would understand how much that could impact a person. I am 18, and my little sister is 8. If, a few years back, I had been in the same position as Sieta and Setsuko, I would've failed too. It just kind of reminds you that someday, you might have to bury your siblings. The people you spent most of (or your whole) life with. It's easy to say, "ah, everyone dies, it's no big deal". You may not have gotten choked up when an aunt or uncle died, maybe even grandparents you never see. But when you seen the reaper man up close, and watch the light fade from someones eyes, see someone whose hopes and dreams will never be, turn to meat in front of your eyes, you will understand the pain of loosing a sibling, especially one who has barely lived at all. Nobody is ever said when a 95 year old person dies, they talk about how they lived a long, happy life. But a childs death is worse than you own.I hope you never experience it and continue to be as ignorant about thing like this as you are.

Iori's in macho mode right now!

I admit, it's hard for me, a 24 year old man, to admit that he cries at these things, but I do. I do because I'm a human being, ya know? Perhaps you should watch these movies and see for yourself.

Yeah, Empire Strikes back is a real... erm... tearjerker? LOL

Want to see a sad movie go out and rent In The Company Of Men, and Happiness. If you watch them email me and tell me what you think. You won't cry durring them and there are no "Hollywood" endings, But their sad. And If you are sick of "hollywood" movies watch Robert Altman's The Player, with Tim Robins Good F'n Movie.
