Why must they keep using analog sticks for digital tasks?!

I'm so tired of having to use the analog to navigate menus or do things that have nothing to do with analog movement. It's so much harder to keep tapping down on a stick than to just push a button. I'll move down twice and it'll count once, I'll think I pushed right and it'll go diagonally... Why not just make use of the D-pads? Nintendo does this a lot now. It's now my biggest problem with them... Every damn game I play by them makes you use the analog for nearly everything. It doesn't affect core gameplay one damn bit, but FUCK I hate it so much. Like I was playing this mini game on Zelda and I had to quickly move around a 6 square board. Would have been a lot easier with a d-pad. I kept saying "I didn't move there!" Now, I KNOW it's not my fault when it's moving in the wrong directions. If I was unable to properly move in a direction I wouldn't be gaming and probably wouldn't be tying my shoes or walking or even able to type. It's not even the GC's fault. It's just bad design to use an analog stick for a digital task. DAMMIT! They clearly spend a lot of time on their games... Don't they notice this? Ugh.

Yeah i hear that. Are you talking about the mail sorting game in Zelda? I was having a hard time getting it to go where i wanted to as well. It wasn't that big of a deal but it did make the mini game harder. Of course the d-pad on the gcn is so small it is practically worthless. At least the controller feel comfortable in your hands...

And Zelda kicks ass.

Yeah that's the one. I could and I did do it, but I just thought that it would have been a lot better with the d-pad. I just don't know why they don't give you an option to use either for that kind of thing. Animal Crossing is another good example. At least it let you use the d-pad in the NES games, but not for menus. It bothers me a lot.

I feel your pain. By habit, I always use the digital d-pad to navigate through menus. I frustrates me when a game forces me to use the analog stick to do this. The stick never goes where I want it to.

I would use the D-Pad alot more for GC games if the damn thing werent so far over and didnt feel like when you push the buttons it doesnt even move.

I prefer d-pads really, but at least the joystick for the GC isnt like the n64 one.....

*shudders at the thought of playing Virtual On Marz with PS2's Dual Analog instead of the twinsticks*

I actually don't mind the GC D-pad, but you could get a different controller with a better d-pad if it bothered you a lot.

GC cross key pad is the same as the GBA...

I like the Analogs, but the cross key is too small !

It's quite good tough. but still too little. :)
