I just bought the game and it's a flawless arcade port.Having played the arcade version many times, i knew what to expect and i wasn't dissapointed. The presentation is sleek.
It supports progressive scan as well.Use the same method as in Tekken 4.

Heihachi is a very good character to use.He is very fast and can be overpowering at times. All his moves from Tekken are intact and he has that EWGF as well.He could kick any character's ass without the need for weapons. He could even perform some damaging juggles from Tekken.Namco successfully combined his Tekken style with the SC2 style.I breezed through the game using him.
Necrid is new to the SC series. He has some weird attacks. His weapon could shift into many shapes(axe or sword).
The music is pretty good as well.Nice tracks. There are some secret characters you could unlock after reaching a certain criteria. The new modes are cool especially the weapon master mode. The final battle with inferno is really cool with a lot of effects and shit.

I will post more of my impressions later after spending more time with the game.

Here is the intro of the PS2 version(has heihachi in it) which i found in another site.

The intro looks beautiful, easily outclassing the original version on DC.

Is it available in NA now?

Nope. It won't come out to North America until early Fall. :(

XBox version should be the best of the three, I'll wait for the U.S. release of it. I loved Soul Calibur on the DC, so the sequel should be outstanding. :)

Awesome intro! I can't wait to see what it'll look like for the X-Box/Gamecube versions. Though I doubt they'll have it, I hope there's an Intro Edit mode like there was in Soul Calibur (I liked being able to create my own opening sequence).

By the way, today is March 27th in Japan, meaning the game has just be officially released on all three major systems.

Uh...what?

Anyways, I have the XBOX one pre-ordered also. They should have thought of a cool name though. Soul Edge, Sould Calibur, and...oh well, it will still rule. Yoshimitsu baby! :D

Spawn is a much more appropriate character than a gay-looking LINK as a character, what a freaking joke that is!! Enjoy your fairy character for the GC, he really fits well eh? lol

All the extra characters are a joke. They have no place in Soul Calibur.

Perhaps, but the worst joke character of all in SC is clearly Link. THAT was the best they could come up with for the GC? About the most poorly chosen and inappropriate character you could EVER pick for a fighting game, bar none . . . oh_no

SPAWN is more appropriate?! What the Hell are you talking about? If anything, he's the least appropriate of the entire bunch!

1. He's from a comic book...a bad one at that.
2. They had to just make up a weapon for him. An axe. Wow, how original.
3. Spawn hasn't been popular for a loooooong time. Why bring him back now? Oh yeah, because McFarlane likes pimping his own shit.

Link at least fits in with the whole swashbuckling motif, and he's from another videogame. You hate the cartoon look of the new Zelda, and then you hate on a "realistic" Link, too? I don't really understand...do you just hate the Legend of Zelda games?

GAY? Look man, Link in Soul Calibur 2 for GC is what I was praying for as far as Zelda on GC goes. I think he looks like he can kick some fucking ass. I mean if you're going to call Link gay then you might as well make referense to Spawn being someone who looks like he's dressed in black leather and likes to use "chains". Sounds like someone who'd be cast into a cameo in Police Academy for the "Blue Oyster" scene rather than in a 3D fighting game...

Criticizing Wind Waker I can understand, lots of us wanted a more mature style for the game. But when you actually get a representation of what we wanted, you crap on it? I mean what would make you happy for gods sake?

Peace

Even in a more "mature" version (that would be like a teenager at best), Link looks silly in Soul Calibur. He's not appropriate at all for such a game, ESPECIALLY when you compare him to the other, truly mature players in the game such as Mitsurugi. I mean, you can't seriously believe that Link fits into this style of game in the least?

Spawn may seem silly as an addition, but he is by far more appropriate than Link. I think thats pretty easy to see, just put Link up next to any other SC character, and its painfully obvious.
