I'm quitting my job.

Today was the day people pushed me too far. Perhaps other people have this problem, if you are a good natured person who will quite happly help your fellow workers, they start to take advantage of it.
When one of the other workers left I ended up with her job as well, but for no extra pay.
Everyone brings work to me they don't what to do, as they have decided its now my job.
I only make just above minimum wage, dispite being there nearly 3 years. I only make £130 per week. Minus from this travel and lunch expenses leaves around £100.
They've opened a homeless unit next door to my works. I'm not against this as everyone goes through tough times, but it only seems to be filled with herion addicts and alcoholicts(Not sure if thats spelled correctly) aged between 18-40 who hassle, threaten or give you verbally abuse. I've already ended up in a fight with one when he tried to mug me.
Theres a new girl who has started I don't get on with. She does no work and always brings in her personally problems. Shes just one big, messed up excuse.
I'm handing in my notice tomorrow(Boss wasn't in today to hand notice to). Just need a new job.....

cheer up lady wolfie.this forum area is the most fun you can have even you have life's little problems.i hope you stay in this neo.geo forum for life.i'll be here as long as i can.yeah, sometimes people take advantage on a person who is good natured, its true but sometimes you have to deal with it if you want to suceed in your job.and hey,$130 a week is actually not bad at all unlike me who is still in university having a very hectic lifestyle and i can't even find a job! Unless i graduate, and get a masters degree,i can't find a good job.okay job aside, now for the funs, post a pic about me on the war room will you?

My job is stacking shelves at sainsburys at night,i get £5.80 per hour, and work 10 hours per night, saturday nights are wicked cos i get the equilavent of £9 per hour so i get £90 just for working saturday night, perhaps if you have a sainsburys near you that does night shift you should opt for that, full time nights including saturday is 4 nights
and youll get about £240 a week with the option of overtime.
Trouble is it is hard work youll certainly have to flex your muscles a lot and it is tiring but you sound like a hard worker
who will do the job there asked,as for people pissing you off at work im afraid youll get that everywhere, but your moneys bad
i wouldnt stand for that.
If you think your unfairly treated its best to put in a complaint in writing or at least tell them calmly to there face what you think there doing wrong.

I feel for you, I look at the employees where I work and say if I was the owner I would never let this many people stand or sit around and do nothing while they gossip and take away my money. I guess that is why my boss, as eccentric as he is respects me alot, and let's me have some power. Since I have been blessed to be from a family of business owners.
When coming to work starts to become personal, then you should find another job, if you really enjoy what you are doing but hate the atmosphere, find a job similar but away from the people.
That is only the ideal though.

Thanks for the advice snknutball. I know what you mean about people pissing you off and that it happens anywhere. I'm very easy going and she just takes advantage of it. I've tried talking to her but shes very confrontationaly(I'm not). An example was last week when I discovered a hole in one of the desks in my workroom. It must have only just been done as I'd never seen it before. I asked her about it (it could only be her as she is the only other person who uses my workroom), and she said it wasn't her. So we had a big arguement over it. I hate an "atmosphere" in work and I apologized to her(even those it was her), and everything ok until I organised some work for her to be done over the saturday. I came in Monday and none of it was done, I asked her about it and she said that she had personal problems to deal with on saturday and didn't do any work. Trouble is this puts me behind a full days work. She kicked off when I asked her to help sort the work out with me.
Also there trouble from the people at the homeless unit next door too.
Plus they have a very "old style" approach to work. I have the boss mum(the accountant) make me do her shopping! Anytime she wants something , she sends me out, because they think if they pay me i'm some kind of slave.
The machines we use are fucked. There from 1988! Told the boss about it put he doesn't care. He can afford a new one as the whole of there family bought new cars at the beginning of the tax year.(I work in a family business). Then he gets pissed off cause things break on the machine!
Its just all too much for too little. Can't wait to get this over with.

You havent mentioned what job you do,it sounds like youre in some sort of office/printing job.
If the women has personal problems as a rule of thumb your'e not supposed to take your problems to work, she should be advised to take a few days off till she calms down.
Your not in what i would call a proffesional business job,you shouldnt be made to do someone elses work,no matter what there excuse is you should never back down as a slave, yes they are paying you but that dont mean you have to virtually run the business,
when you next walk in try to act as if them giving you all this work isnt slavery and exclaim that the place would fall apart if you wasnt there, act like you are proud to do the work by making comments like: "havent you finnished yet" if there slacking or "cor blimey this work is too easy ill be able to run the place soon".
You just got to approach them as if youre enjoying it and want to move up,theyll then get pissed off with you and they may start doing the work, its kinda like reverse psycology, give it a couple of weeks like this
and if nothing changes hand in your notice
co i wouldnt stand for that crap.

Oh yeah you could try ignoring people you dont like, in other words when they want to get social just blank them out pretend they dont exist then theyll know there doing something wrong.
