uhh yeah you do your button mashing while i kick your ass with kasumi and brad wong. using actual moves; everyone has an easy to do combo involving the punch button only. but that does'nt make the game a button masher. destrega is a button masher not DOA3.

the girls having nice racks does'nt make the game about boobs. every character has a storyline and there all in the DOA for some reason though, zack is in the tournament for money everyone else has some sort of reason for being kasumi is in it to find her long lost brother her brother is in it for different reasons. boobs just help to boost sales but everyone has a story that intertwines with each other until the final fight against that samurai lookin guy. when ýout find that DOA is just a front for something larger. though what that is won't be uncovered till the next one. or at least that's what i picked up. DOA probably runs a whole lot deeper than that though.

DOA requires very little skill to be able to play. What pisses me off most, is that when you're in the middle of a combo, any retard can counter it at any time.....making most combos obsolete IMHO. I'm a "wizard" in DOA3, but that's not saying a hell of a lot when any "six year old" can kick my ass just by mashing buttons, and countering all my unfinshed combos. It's way too easy to counter in DOA, plus they do a "substantial" amount of damage to boot. I like Tekken and VF better, because IMO they take a hell of a lot more skill to play than DOA. DOA3 is nothing more than a "glamour whore", with very shallow gameplay. <img src="graemlins/mad2.gif" border="0" alt="[Mad 2]" />

I agree wholeheartedly. Tekken and Virtua Fighter can be played by button mashers, but when you learn the game, you can mop the floor with them. With DOA, it seems that button mashing is the preferred way to play. Countering is so freakin' easy it makes me sick. A direction plus a button. Wow, the first game my dog can play and be good at.

To the people who say button mashers win at Tekken: how do you explain Tekken champions that can win 100s of matches in a row? Don't you think the button mashers would have beaten them?

And for my answer to DarkRurouni's question, no I dont think it will get the same respect as Tekken and VF until it stops with the women in skimpy outfits thing. It's a bit like comparing a tabloid to a broadsheet.

DOA 3 is pure, utter, fucking GARBAGE. I've said it before, it may be the ultimate example of all that is wrong with modern games. It's about flashy graphics, T&A, and simple-as-fuck gameplay that allows scrubs to button-mash themselves into masturbatory bliss. Both Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter own that game for FREE.

i have DOA2 Hardcore (the ps2 one) and I enjoy playing it every once and a while.

Zack in his C2 cotume looks like a dark Duck King, and dances. I love him.

DOA is an outstanding game (Woh, agreeing with Drift King, has the world gone mad?) The people who complain about counters being easy don't know what there talking about, counters are much harder in 3 than 2, due to enhanced Counter lag. The only people who complain about people countering them all the time are using the same move constantly. With DOA, you need to delay moves, and expect when someone's gonna counter and then throw them. My Cousin is a hardcore player as well, and we have some great matches :) Well up there with VF, Tekken's too relient on Pokes these days.

the gameplay leaves me bored. The only good point about DoA is the panty shots. Other than that, it's a useless series. I feel the same about Tekken. It's pig slop on the screen. A fucking circus.

At least Tecmo understands this problem, and is capitalizing on it with their volley ball game.

DOA is crap. Yes simple as that. Gameplay is not good at all. Virtua Fighter and Tekken is better. Deeper gameplay, and interesting 10-hit combos from Tekken.

Dead or Alive doesn't quite rank up there with Virtua Fighter and Tekken, but it comes pretty darn close. Besides, it's certainly better than a lot of other 3D games (*cough* *cough* Bio Freaks *hack* *gurk* Rise 2 Ressurrection *choke* *wheeze* Dark Rift *achoo!* *sniff* Fighter's Destiny *sniff*).

DOA did come up with some nice innovations. I liked the counter system in 1 and 2(haven't played 3 yet) , the multi level playing fields are great and the exploding ring area was a neat add in, but when it comes right down to it the fighting system pales in comparison with the VF and Tekken series. I thought that it was far too easy to counter in DOA2 and the matches tended to breakdown into button mashing madness. Out of all the 3D fighters mentioned I think that the VF series has always had the strongest and deepest gameplay. While VF never quiet matched Tekken in terms of eye candy its combat system took the cake. Personally I like all 3 franchises but VF will always remain the gameplay king, Tekken will always remain the graphics king and DOA will always be known as the game with the chicks in the really skimpy outfits with gigantic, physics defying boobs that bounce way too much game.

VF > Tekken > DOA

but graphics wise, DOA 3 is incredible. And the girls are very well designed :p Just not compelling enough to play.

DOA3 has the best graphics when compared to tekken 4 or VF4.But the gameplay is so shallow that its a joke.Newbies have no problem button mashing their way to victory against experts. And the reversal does way too much damage and is so simple to pull off.Weak....
DOA does have some pretty and sexy looking girls though.
I prefer tekken and VF's complex gameplay and combos better.
And i don't like the DOA developer's arrogance dissing VF4 as old and calling tekken 4 a piece of shit. That is very immature and not cool.Worst thing is that he is a developer and not a fan!

No, it won't be equal any time soon. It's got a long ways to go in terms of depth, strategy, and balance... and I don't know that the developers are too worried about that. They sell the game on the fact that you can just pick it up and play... and hot chicks.

I have fun playing DoA (the series) in short spurts. An idiot can pick it up and be successful, which makes it a good competitive multiplayer game when playing with people who don't want take the time to master a fighter.

I hardly agree that it's crap, but it's on a whole different wavelength from some of the more legendary series.
