This is not new at all, it has been out for some time now, and is made by a Korean company.

So far, no schedule for it to be released in US nor Japan.

The gamepark was at E3. There was also a version of it with a biult in cell-phone. Unfortunately I hear the thing has some of the worst slowdown of any system. Problem is that developers make the games to detailed or something.

Ahh - the GP32, I've had one for a bit now.
The games for it are all pretty poor and generally suffer from crackily sound and a choppy framerate, however, where the machine really shines is the homebrew stuff. The conversion of wolf3D is really slick, and the Master system and Game gear emulator runs really well.
The fact that you can store loads of roms, MP3's and home-grown games on one 64mb smartmedia card is really cool.
The emulator for the PC engine is also coming along pretty well.

Basically, If you buy one, make sure you get into the home-coded stuff as the official korean games are all a bit shite.

The screen is better (brighter) than the GBA, and the sound output is of a higher quality (although sometimes crackily as I mentioned before). also the design is pretty comfortable - the shoulder buttons are better than the GBA's for a start.

Its a decent console, and Gamepark are actively encouraging home development and the importing of their console, but I doubt it will ever come close to nintendo's success in the portable gaming world.

Hope this helps.

mmmmm..... from hearing this I'm glad I didn't buy one . If the home brew games are better than the offical games this system must be hurting bad in sales ,

That control pad doesn't look too good for fighters ,

I would have still bought one if KOF was still comeing out for it ,

It DID look interesting, but... Homebrew sounds cool, but didn't a console try that recently and fold? What was that called? It was Linux based, I believe...The Crappola 64, wasn't it? <img src="graemlins/loco.gif" border="0" alt="[Loco]" />

I have one too. I really dont think its as bad as people say. You can download games for it like Wolfenstein 3d wich is much better than the GBA version.
MP3 music is a plus. Its a nice little system. But $150 is too much for it.
