I am. I can't guarantee I'll wake up in time to catch it, but by God if I do I will.
I don't care how it is -- I'm just glad to see TurtleMania serving up another hearty slice to a new generation.

10 bucks says within the first episode Mikey will say "COWABUNGA DUDE!" wink

I just saw it a short time ago. It was pretty sweet, had a good deal of action sequences, and the animation looked quite sharp. They've done away with most of the cheeseiness (no Kang, no Dimension X, no Technodrome, no Bebop and Rocksteady [not yet, at least], the Foot Soldiers are a lot more skilled than their previous "cannon-fodder" incarnations, and best of all, no girl turtle [see live-action TMNT series from 1997]), and gave the turtles a slight personality overhaul (read: less goofing around and more action). Overall, I have quite a good feeling about the series, and it looks like I'll be able to relive those glorious Saturday mornings from the early 90s once more.

By the way, Steve, Mike almost said "Cowabunga!", but was interrupted. And for those of you who missed the first episode, it'll re-air on 2/15 @ 8:30am EST.

And with that, I'm outta here for the weekend. See ya guys on Monday!

I taped it, he said cowabunga once, then
almost twice before raph. knocked him in
the hole in the floor.

Good stuff BUT THEY FUCKED UP THE THEME SONG.

Man, that was COOL. It was hot, it was hip, it was here, it was HAPPENIN'!

I feel very satisfied with what I saw, and like Insaneben, I came away with a pretty good feeling.

Yes the theme song is a little wack but give it time I guarantee it'll grow on you and you won't much give a damn.

Splinter is still here... Leo is still the all-around leader. Ralph seems a lot edgier and hot-headed than ever before. Mikey's still "A PARTEE DUDE!" (for all you hardcore original TMNT theme freaks) and of course Don still knows how to bust open hi-tech code locks and hotwire trucks.

The 1st ep was called "THINGS CHANGE" and the Turtles are driven out of their old dingy home into a huge two or three story underground lair. The ending ends with some bad ass "taking care" of the leader of the Purple Dragons who got their asses kicked by the Turtles.

Replay next week at 8:30 pacific time and a new ep at 10:30.
I'm glad to say not only is TurtleMania back... but it does the franchise proud and it still... can... kick... some... ass. :)

I read an interview with Peter Laird. He said that the first cartoon had absolutelly no input from them and that it strayed way far from there original comics.
The first movie was a little closer but still strayed just a tad.
However the new series aparentally he got to put a lot of input to and so the new cartoon is a lot closer to the edgy original comic with a few changes to make it sutable for TV kids etc.

Heres a link to the very first TMNT comic in its entirity as created by Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird

The new TMNT is awesome. Much Much closer to the comics. I was very impressed. As a collector of the OG B&W comics I am pleased to see the Turtles back in some real action. I also loved that they dont have eyes in their masks like in the old cartoon. I will agree though that the theme song isnt that great. buttrock

You know it was pretty cool, it had a retro feel to it, colors and characterwise. Shredder is way cooler now... The turtles get away with better language... something like "Get the shell out of here" Its done well, should be a decent addition to the already rockin Fox morning :)

Guile, it's on Fox.

My favorite quotes from episode I were all from Mikey:

1. "Don't you know? This is a no parking zone. Here's your ticket, and here's your fine!" *Kick in the mouth!*

2. A group of ninja-dressed thugs perched from high above. Mikey goes, "Are those guys... ninjas?"

Then the thugs gracefully jump all the way down to greet the Turtles.

Mikey then goes, "Well they're certainly ninja-ESQUE!"

wink

Awsome! Finally, someone who dosen't think that this would suck, I bought one of the new action figures (Leonardo), and my friends looked at me like I was crazy. But it's good to hear the new toon kicked ass (unfortunetly I missed it... stupid sleep), and rest assurred that I'll be checkin' it out from now on.

Interesting fact for those who know me: I'm a independent comic artist, and the comic that inspired me to make that career choice... Was the very first comic book my mother ever bought me; Kevin Estman & Peter Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles issue # 1, first printing. I was four (since that would've been around 1984). I wish I still had that comic (my baby brother distroyed it because he was mad at me for something in 1986). I remember learning to read with it (thanks Mom & Dad), and then after I'd had learned to read by myself, I'd spend hours just reading over and over again. Ah, good memories.

The little statue figures they have at ninjaturtles.com are awesome too.
All cool and statuey and stuff.

I'll miss you Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady. Rest in peace old friends.
