Does anyone have the Dungeons and Dragons games on Sega Saturn? If so, can you tell me if they are as good as the arcade version? Also has anyone delt with this site: http://importgamesjapan.com/

Any info would be appreciated.

It is a really good package. Comes with both of them (were there more? I don't know) and it's pretty much arcade perfect, like X-Men VS. Street Fighter perfect. I picked it up when it first came out for like 58. I've seen it now for 90, but you can find it for cheaper.

And, no, I haven't dealt with import games japan, so I can't vouch for them.

Thanks! That site is offering a Jap white system for 149.00 and the Dungeons set for 99.00 all new. I want it bad but a new CPS is 500 and you gotta deal with suicide batterys and no memory card on a 110 minute game....sucks. Thats why the saturn fix sounds so much better.

Dang! I kind of had a feeling that something like that would be an issue. Thanks DFX. Well I guess I'll just get the CPS versions when I can. Its just thoughs stinken suicide batteries. They suck. So many awesome capcom games have them. Why ? WHYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!??..........oh well. :(

They are great ports but as already said the loading is god awful. I figured with the help of the ram cart the loading would be fine but that is not the case.

Still it is a great game package to have.

$149 for a white Saturn? Too expensive! You can get rarer Transparent Blue Derby Stallion Sega Saturns new cheaper than that...

Update: www.videogamedepot.com has a used white SS for $75, which is very reasonable. Buy from them without worry, as they rock. I've spent 1000s at their site, and almost every used import DC game I've bought from them included the spine card. They are that good.

I have to offer a counter viewpoint on D&D collection.

While it is a good game, and a good beat em up. Something ...intangible... seems to be lost in the translation.

I don't know if I have to spike the difficulty up a notch or something, but it seems to be over too fast on the saturn version (I'm talking Tower of Doom, my favorite of the two).

Another issue: JP text. If you know JP, you are fine. If you don't.. Well.. You can play it, but you won't know which paths you will choose to progress in the game, and the story won't be clear to you. To my knowledge, there are no FAQs to this game, arcade or Saturn that go though the menus, either. Switching weapons and knowing what you are switching to (oil, arrows, etc) on the fly for that tough situation can be a chore w/o JP knowledge too. IF that is an issue for you, that might be something to think about.

Sorry about all the complaining, but that's just another side of the coin. Truth be told, it is one of the best beat em ups on the Saturn, if not THE best. It just isn't as good as the arcade version, that's all. a 4 Player simultaneous option would have been nice too. The saturn does, after all, have a multi-tap, no?

Why don't console beat em ups ever have 3-4 player options?

D&D collection (Saturn)

The good:

- two CDs, two games
- arcade quality graphics
- cheaper than arcade counter part

The bad:

- only two players
- loading is bit long (around 10 - 15 seconds)
- unlimited continues

The ugly:

- pricey ($90 - $120 used)
- quite hard to score a copy at reasonable price
