How does the Genesis sound through a surround sound system?

Does anyone here have their Genesis 2 hooked up to their home theater system via Sega's stereo a/v cable? The reason I'm asking this is because I have Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and it sounds absolutely amazing for a 13 year old game. Not to mention, a Genesis game.

Not bad for a 13 year old system-but stereo only!
What did you expect anyway? <img src="graemlins/spock.gif" border="0" alt="[Spock]" />

The Genesis sounds like an 8 track player underwater. Hooking it up to a stereo will only make it worse. Simply compare the same games made for it and the SNES and you'll see. A GLARING example is Rock N' Roll Racing.

Will sound like any other Stereo device, but with an 8-bit sound processor quality, the Yamaha 2612 wich is was built after the Neo Geo Yamaha 2610.

Not that bad, but also not that good.

The Genesis never had but such great sound capabilities anyway, but you can't compare a system for over 12 years ago against DVD's, the Xbox or PS2. Still, if you have a good receiver it is not bad. Any stereo signal is all that is needed for the receiver to convert for Pro Logic II, which is full bandwidth unlike the old Pro Logic. Hell, anything sounds better than playing it over some crappy TV speakers!

Genesis is only stereo, you would gain nothing using surround. (it would only play the stereo track thru each speaker.)
