What are your video game collecting habits?

For example, say you own six or more consoles, does every game you buy have to be complete or just the games for one or two of your systems? I'm asking this to get a better sense of everyone's collecting habits (if you are a collector) and possibly some pointers. Here's how I collect games for each of my systems:

AES/Phantom-1: Loose 100% original US MVS carts with perfect labels.

NES: Every game must be compete with cart, manual, sleeve, and box.

SNES: I've been thinking about just collecting loose carts with perfect labels. Would this be the right thing to do?

Genesis: Complete games with clamshell, manual, and cart.

Saturn: US games must be complete with case, manual, and disc. Import games must be complete with case, manual, and disc but the spine card is not necessary.

So what are your collecting habits?

Well for MVS and all cd/grom/dvd based games it's all about having everything that comes with it from game to the lil plastic sleeve for imports.

But for cart based games I use to have the "all I need is the kart itself" mentality but since the middle of last year I've decided on getting the box and all that for em.

The only prob I have now is finding boxes and inserts for all my loose genesis, snes, and nes carts

I agree with this somewhat. I *prefer* original case and manual, but it doesn't necessary have to be. For example I got Radiant Silvergun disc only for 65 flat. I couldn't pass that up -- that's virtually a once-in-a-lifetime offer!

Also, for "lower end US titles" I don't need the case/manual.

However, all games have to be in at least good, if not very good, condition.

Case/manual is a bonus, and I only hunt complete copies of games I really want complete and can wait for decent price (i.e. SFZ3, Nekketsu Oyako, Burning Rangers, Metal Slug, etc.)

I generally don't give a damn about a missing instruction manual, providing it isn't neccessary to help play the game ala' Persona 1 & 2... but all games must have the original box and the game (if CD based almost NO to No scratches on it) otherwise I look some more. Truth be told most of my used games I've had for a decade or longer look better than that last copy of the brand new game places like EB Games take out of the box and place in a jewel case. I'm just nuts about games and aim to get what I pay for em'

all my cartridge systems have bare cartridge games except for the neo i have to have the box with my games and manuals for certain games, but if it's something like metal slug manuals don't matter, as you only use three buttons.

MVS: Legit cart, ENG or JPN label, Only buy kits on brand new games (there are a few games I am looking for in kit format, like LB2, just because I love them so damn much), for most, just carts are fine

NES,SNES,Sega CD, N64, PSX, PS2, Saturn, GB/GBC/GBA: every game I own, I own the manual, box and any extras

Genesis: If I want a game bad enough, just cart is fine

Atari 2600: used to own all the boxes, but my Mom threw them out a long time ago. Still own all the manuals though...

For cd based systems i must have instrtuctions, disc, and case. For cartridge based systems i only the need the carts (though its nice to get the box/manual). Really as long as the game plays i am happy.

I dont really collect anything anymore , infact I have been unloading all but just a few consoles and then Im only keeping some of the games. Im more into the buy it play it for a few months and get rid of it gaming mode these days , unless its a game that I really need to keep around ? The one exception would be my MVS and then bare carts are fine as long as they are genuine and in working order.

Neo-Geo MVS-Loose carts are cool,got to be 100%legit.
NGH-Box and instructions preferred,gamer condition o.k.
CD-based Systems-Should come with everything,no scratches.
Cart-based systems-Should also be complete,but loose carts are o.k.

I'm anal and it really sucks. Who wants to care so much about a fucking hobby?

Neo AES: every game must be mint/near mint
psx/ps2/saturn/sega cd/xbox/gc/duo: all mint and complete.

snes: who cares? but i buy complete and mint when i can.

Genesis: all complete

if its for genesis, its GOTTA have the case, and theat usually means they come with a manual too.

neo i dont really care, if its bare or shitty and it takes $100 of the price, im all for it.

mvs dont care. it could have a scratched to hell case and half torn off reprinted label and i'd buy it.

cd systems gotta be complete, includes saturn and sega cd with dem big ass cases, i love those

nes, snes, and n64 i just try to get a cart without some dumbass's name written on it. damn nintendo and their cardboard boxes.

duo-hu's GOTTA have the case and manual, and if possible, the box, love them boxes.

on jpn cds i dont really care about spines, but if it comes with one its not like ima throw it away.

I've been collecting games/systems for over 20 years.

I buy Complete/semi complete/used/bare carts,empty boxes and chewed up by a dog games.(serious)
I would like to have the boxes/complete items for every game/system I buy.

But I'm also a consistant game player so I buy games that are not complete too.(used etc.)

I buy anything that has to do with video games.
Except for..
( Boots or Roms)
I still buy games for all/any of the systems I own .
I've been buying a lot of MVS carts during the last 6 months... Atleast 2 a week.
(I can't stop)
Now I started on AES carts complete or loose.

I have to have my new released games to play also.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't get something to do with Video Games.

I'm Fkn Crazy..
It's an addiction..

I need to host a picture of my game collection.
