Woo woo...looks like Sammy has been the little busy body lately. First they put out Guilty Gear X2 and Galerians:Ash, and now they put out these two titles for the GBA that seemed to have flown in under the radar.
When I saw the boxes for them at work today I wasted no time in snapping them up. Both games have nice box art all around and full color manuals but the best part was they were only $14.99 each buttrock buttrock buttrock
I didn't even realize Sammy was domestically publishing titles but it's good to know they are as it gives me one more company to follow & support
. They can join the ranks of companies like Agetec, Atlus, Natsume, and a few others in continuing to bring out the non-mainstream titles for guys like me (and alot of peeps who post on here as well
).
As for the games themselves, they play as good as one could expect on a GBA. I'm no expert on fighting game gameplay though so I can't really comment in that regard. The sound isn't the best either, though KOF does have clearly audible voice samples for special moves (I could hear "Powah Wave!" and "Psycho Baru!" rather well).
It's a damn shame though, cart space/sprites were wasted on the KOF game so they could have Bao in the game loco
Anywho, if you have $35 burning a hole in yer pocket and need some new blood in portable 2D fighter gaming, then go get these titles
