I can't afford it, but I have heard mixed reviews on it. SOme say it's the best, others say it's not as good as the first one. Personally, the first one I fell in love with. I really hope part two is as good.

I have heard from some people however that the game is very easy compared to the first.

Hope that helps

The game is great. Its extremely fun and has a high replay value. Anyone who tells you otherwise is probably Greg Kasavin.

Devil May Cry 2 is definitely easier than the original game. Playing on hard mode provides a decent challenge, hopefully Dante Must Die is still insane.

I'll paste what I posted in another thread here:

Well I finished the game with Dante yesterday and I think the first game is better. Considerably. This game was too easy. I blew through it with using almost nothing but the pistols. The environments lack the detail of the first game, with the same textures all over the place. Many of the environments are big and empty. The game is also shorter, and some of the missions are pathetically so, (Mission 15 anyone?).

The camera is also considerably worse this time. The enemies are dull and the bosses don't have the spectacular deaths that the ones in the first game do. Now the bosses either fade away or shatter. Yawn. The "secret rooms" are also boring. The new map system sucks. And what happened to Dante's trash-talking? It's all but gone, along with the cutscenes. There's little explanation about who Arius is or what he's trying to do.

Despite all this, the game is fun. But compared to the first one, it doesn't push the bar or even touch it in some respects. A dissapointment. 7/10.

When DMC2 is compared to DMC1, one finds that DMC2 is a very bad game. It had so much potential that went unused. It definitely takes about 5 billion steps in the wrong direction. I'm not even sure if I want them to make a third one.

However, if you don't compare it to one of the best games of all time IMO - DMC1, then the game doesn't seem that bad. I like killing monsters and leveling up things, so it is strangely addicting. However it is very short and very easy. But I do love the ending... It just gives you that warm fuzzy feeling. It almost makes up for the overall crapfest that is DMC2.

If you want to see a sequel done right see Onimusha 2.
If you want a really good game play DMC1.
If you still want to kill demon monsters, only in a below average game setting then play DMC2.

Final score after I stopped being pissed off at capcom for a making such a below average sequel to one of my fave PS2 games -

8/10

And BTW, I still am playing it - up to mission 12 Hard w/ Lucia....

DMC 2 is awesome.Sure, its not as good as the 1st one but its still decent. The gameplay has definately been tweaked to make it feel more solid and the animations are all smooth and more fluid. Most of the reviewers who talked about the game being so easy probably play only the normal mode. They probably have never tasted the hard or DMD/LMD modes...

I miss the 1st game's athmosphere though. The second game focuses on some evil corporation trying to take over the world by using demons whereas in the 1st game its all about an evil, sinister demon god called mundus.1st game is definately more gothic and has a better athmosphere but the sequel is pretty good too.

Devil May Cry 2 is boring. It SHOULDN'T be, but it is. Capcom somehow managed to add in lots of cool moves, a second playable character, greater enemy variety, more possible combos, more weapons, and make it all utterly tedious to play. Bearing all that in mind, I was trying to figure out why.

1. The original DMC took place mostly in semi-smallish areas. Dante's really easy to control, and easy to move around... but your movement is limited by the space, and you're very often forced to fight before you can proceed. DMC2's areas are HUGE. In DMC, you had to learn how to combo well in order to survive. In DMC2, you have so much room there's very little worry about up-close combat. Because of this, there's a certain "why am I bothering" kind of feel to fighting.

2. In DMC1, the boss fights were damn tough. You had to find the patterns, learn just how to exploit them, and time it right. Work it properly, and you succeed, Fail and get hurt. Perfect balance. Every single boss in DMC2 can be more easily killed by standing back and shooting than by attacking with the sword.

3. On a purely plot-based note, DMC1's story was goofy as hell, yes, but Dante was a very entertaining character. Trash-talking giant monsters twenty times his size and all that. In the sequel, he's gone all taciturn. Barely ever speaks. Not that there's much to talk about, as there's barely any narrative to speak of, and what little there is makes no sense.

4. The combo engine isn't remotely as interesting anymore. There's too much delay when switching between guns and sword. High Time sends the opponent REALLY high now, but there's no point in following the opponent up unless you want to do a canned kick-kick-slash air combo. In DMC1, you could start with the guns, do a nasty swordslash combo, High Time, follow the opponent up, blast some more in midair, switch to an aerial slash, etc. DMC2, if you follow the High Time, the opponent will land before you can fire in midair, which kills the combo.

5. The new moves are a little pointless. The wall run stuff is only occasionally useful, never a necessity. All it's good for (unless you're just trying to look cool) is to get you out of a corner. But if you're even remotely skilled, you'll never get cornered, since the areas are so huge. The "Twosome Time" (locking on and firing at one enemy and shooting at another with the other hand) move is moderately useful, but also never a necessity.

All this combined with how spectacularly easy and short the game is makes it quite the missed opportunity. And where's my Ifrit gloves, dammit? :p

Don't try to be a dick, because is not on Xbox. Were it, you'd find it amazing. Please. You're really transparent.

I really don't find this gameplay as boring or bad as some of you seem to. Not only is it fun...but it looks cool.

Actually, i think the fun in the game comes from TRYING to look cool, and pulling off psychotic looking attacks. What's wrong with that?!
