greetings everyone I was wondering who here tests games for companies. I got a package from sony accepting me into the gaming advisory panel yesterday and thought it was cool. But I'm sure more than a few others here are also a part of that. I was wondering if nintendo may also have a similar thing going. and what about micrsoft? Can anyone answer these for me? or if your part of the gamer advisory panel too post here buttrock rock on!

I am part of the GAP. I don't visit their forums, since it's likely all pro-PS2 anti Nintendo/Microsoft types. That's why I stay away from the company run forums.

As far as being a Beta tester, I beta tested the BBA for the PS2. For beta testing it, they sent me one for free once the test was over. Haven't used it since.

I also signed up for the EQ:OA beta, but never actually logged in. Something about playing an RPG online with real people kept me away from it... Actually, the real problem was that I was afraid of becoming addicted to it and wanting to continue to play it, thus paying the fee every month to play. NO THANKS!

AS far as other companies, like Nintendo or MS having something like the GAP, I kind of doubt it. I know MS did the Beta for the Live!, but I don't think they run anything else...

GAP= gamers advisory panel. Which is what sony calls thier market research/ beta testing. To join you simply have to have filled out one of those cards you get with your ps2 for the demo disk. and they contact you if they want you to join. I'm now a member of that and just changed my profile so it would include the possibility of beta-testing. But I gotta hand it to sony they sure put together that program rather nicely. I got my package of things for it and it has a cd-wallett that has longer sleeves so the dvd-size booklet will go into it also

Game-wise off the top of my head, I was a beta tester for Asheron's Call, Anarchy Online, and Dark Ages of Camelot on the PC, and I was an XBox Live beta tester as well.

I'm a member of the gamer advisory panel. It's a really fun thing to participate in. They send you a notebook with some paper, pens, memory card holders, certificates, etc. and you participate in group discussions, polls, and contests.
There has been some complaints though that with the PSU number and the site location, not everyone can access the site. But from what I've been told, a majority can. It seems like a minor setback. If you were a member of the playstation underground, they sent out invitations to a select number of them, and those got to sign up. If you want to become a future member of the G.A.P, Just sign up with PS underground, and the next time they need more members, hope they send you an invite :)

Anyone on the GAP, did you get that email about the Rise to Honor box art? Personally I thought they all looked like shit. The bottom 2 looked the best, but only because all the other pix sucked major ass, IMO.

I didn't get it... I've got another question though. How did all the non-GAP beta testers get into it? and is it a paid position or just for fun?
