No Headphone Adaptors available for Gameboy SP?

I just canned my preorder for the GBSP. It didn't occur to me that nintendo wouldn't be shipping the units without the headphone adaptors, and that at best you "might" be able to order the adaptors from nintendo directly.

Its one thing to cut the head phone support off the unit and force people to pay extra if they want this feature, its another thing to make it inconvenient to get this feature at all.

What kind of an idiot ships the unit but not the adaptor? Such is the genius that has cost the Big N" so much console market share over the years, I guess :) .

Oh well, I'll still pick up a unit, but not until I see the adaptors myself, or am able to at least find out how much they cost. Anybody find any of these anywheres?

It was daft they axed it in the first place. I think every handheld ever made has had a headphone socket! Bloody daft.

You know there is going to be a mod. I guarantee it.

I haven't been able to find any third party adaptors in my (admitedly small and Canadian) town.

I was looking forward to using my new GB on a flight/trip I'm going on. Kinda pointless buying it if I'm going to use my old one for this trip.

Like I said, this is more a diss to the idiots that decided not to ship this adaptor than the actual SP (which is still pretty cool-headphone silliness aside).

Edit: heck, you could mod it yourself (easily or messily... would have to try to know). Just insert a headphone adaptor in the wires leading to the speaker, and a cut off switch after the headphone jack to the speaker.

How well this will work? I'm sure someone will try it in the weeks to come :)

I'm skipping an SP for now in favor of a GBPlayer.

And the wonderswan never had a built-in headphone jack.
