I played this game for a good 2-3 hours today. I have played this game a lot and love it, but I always get creamed. So today I decieded to go all out and focus on beating the game and I wasn't going to let anything get in my way. Well, many things got in my way, hard enemies, pitfalls and so much more, but I kept pressing on. I got to level 7-2 and played it for a good hour or so and got to the final boss (or at least I think it was the last incarnation) and thought once I died at the boss I would continue at the same spot, I was deas wrong, it took me back to the first of the level, it didn't even bring me to my last checkpoint. Oh well.

Has anyone beat this game? If anyone has, you get a freakin prize because I could never do it.

Actually, in my younger days, I could go through NG2 and NG3 without continuing. Me and a friend of mine of video taped it. Wish I had that tape now..I had LOTS of free time then...

i remember beating it twice when it first came out.

not that i was that good of a player or anything. it was one of the very few games i had on the NES which meant i had no choice but to play and finish the games i did have.

i think i read some hints from like Nintendo Power, and that's how i learned to beat the game. my thumb was all bruised too :D

I've completed NG2 plenty of times... I'll ask my brother if he remembers any strategies for the last guys. I was never good at remembering patterns and shit.

NG 1... that game beat the shit out of me. When I first got it I was in third grade, so I was what, 8? I could get to the end (foing the ultra large amount of lives trick on the 5th level I believe, where you fight the dude who Ryu believes "killed" his father). I went back not too long ago and actually finished it on my own. What a feeling of accomplishment!

I just talked to my bro *strategy alert*:

Be sure you have 2 shadow characters with you for ALL forms.

Jaquio (or however you spell it): Jump in the air and try to leave you shadows in the air as much as possible so that you can sword slash him while trying to avoid him. If you can keep the flames that shoot into the air, have that as your secondary weapon and try to line it up so all 3 of your characters hit him. He's pretty simple to defeat. TRY TO DEFEAT HIM WITHOUT USING THE FLAME IF POSSIBLE, since you'll need it on the next form.

2nd form (can't remember what it's name was, if it had one): 2 shadows and the flame as well. This time waste your flames on this bitch. You can also use the jump in the air, leave a shadow on a piece you can hit and move when you have to, then repeat strategy, similar to Jaquio.

3rd form (the statues): 2 shadows and the orange star. In order to use the star, you'll obviously have to die. The orange star does the most damage on the statue if you hit it in the proper place. Try to jump up and leave a shadow in the air so you can keep launching orange stars at him while trying to avoid being hit.

Don't worry about dying if you have enough lives. Yeah, you have to go back through the last level, but when you get to the end, anyone you've defeated you no longer have to fight. If you continue, I'm not sure whether they stay dead or not.

Good luck!

Man, I remember back in the day when I beat NG1 an 2. They are kinda hard, and the above stategy works for the last bosses. I never beat NG3, due to the lack of time. Good games nevertheless. :D

Whaa? Ninja Gaiden 2 is EASY. The boss patterns aren't that hard to pick up on and there's about a gazillion 1-Ups (mostly from score)

Ninja Gaiden 1 was definitely tougher, mainly because if you didn't beat Jaquio on the first try, YOU WERE FUCKED.

as for Ninja Gaiden 3... dear lord that kicked my ass.

I can get up to the third boss without continuing once.

It's a bastard of a game - enemies just keep coming at you, and seem to 'home in' on your character (like the flying types).

The thing that pisses me of most is that you get knocked back when you are injured, many times casuing me to fall of edges.

Ashtar is a bit of a bitch to beat the first time you fight him, halfway through the game (A very good tune to the fight), but he is actually easier the second time; And that big ugly creature at the end is a bit easy too.

NG is hard period. There is no doubt about it. This proves that Nintendo had the hardest games ever.

You only fight Ashtar once, at the end of act V. And he's the easiest damn boss in the game. You barely even have to move. As it starts up, wait for him to materialize, toss off four or five Art of the Fire Wheels, then as he disappears, run a little to the left (just left of center), then turn right. You may get hit once, but it's negligible. As he reforms again, hit him with the AotFW again. Dead.

NG2 was by far the easiest of the three games (unless you count the Japanese NG3, which was a cakewalk). I can still kick ass on that game, though I've not played it in some years now.

As for the final boss, it's easy too, if you have 100 spirit points and (again) the Art of the Fire Wheel. Here's how to get through all three on one attempt.

Form 1: Run to the right wall immediately. Move up and down so that both your shadows are on top of you. Wait for Jaquio to hover close (just a second or two at most), press right and wail away until he's dead. Bam.

Form 2: Run to the right, press against the wall, fire AotFW until he's dead. Possibly take one hit, maybe two if you're slow.

Form 3: Duck under the claw, then as it retracts, jump up and slash the head ONCE, then retreat to the corner, face left, crouch and slash repeatedly. If you do it right, your second shadow will be in perfect position to keep attacking. Fifteen hits later, the head will be gone. Run over to the core and use AotFW immediately if you have it. Otherwise, just jump in front of it, slash, then let your doubles do the work as you dodge. Very simple.

Ninja Gaiden is still one of my all-time favorite series, those games kicked so much ass it wasn't even funny. I still wish Tecmo would re-release Ninja Gaiden Trilogy on the GBA, but that's probably asking too much...

Strangely enough, I thought II was much easier than I or III. Even III I could plow through with only a few continues. But the original kicked my ass for a very long time. frown
