Sega CDX

This morning I stumbled upon a Sega CDX, these kids had it at a garage sale. Selling it with 15 games that were scratchless for $10 was hard to pass up. Anyway, there was no A/V or power cable for it. Does anyone know where I could get those, or if say the cables from a Genesis 3 would work?

I think it takes a Gen 2 A/V cable. I might be able to check when I get home tonight.

=o) Thanks for the suggestion! I hit Funcoland on my lunch break, and I played my CDX for the first time over my last 15 minute break. Genesis 2 cables were the way to go. Also grabbed World Heroes, Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury 2, and Samurai Showdown for Genesis while I was there, for $1 a piece.

Warning:

The CDX uses more power than the regular Genesis' 1-3. If you try to play a CD game the system will literally have a brown-out (mine did until I dug up the AC).

A regular Genesis inputs 7 watts.

A CDX inputs 23 watts.

You can damage the system if you don't power it correctly.

Other than that, I love mine

Can anyone help me? I'm stuck here. My CDX doesn't seem to work, it always registers that the drive door is still open. I think it's because the power supply is inadequate, and the cd just doesn't spin up like it should. Using a gen 2 power supply...

You're not going to get the CD portion to work, there isn't enough juice going in the system.

Ok I know for a fact that Radio Shack's adaptor works on CDX--just tried it. It's 9V, and 800 mA. You should be able to get it at any Radio Shack. Have fun. BTW, if it doesn't work, then you know what the problem is...

I'll go with MTB's suggestion for now. I just want to know for sure if I need to repair the thing or not.

The system worked, temporarily... Then I put together the suggestions I'd had...
1) Now I use the ac adaptor for the Genesis 2 - it's .5 volts more powerful than the original CDX adapter, and shouldn't hurt a thing.

2) There's a switch with a cheap plastic connector that tells the CDX that the drive door is closed. That was broken, the switch was loose. I took the system apart, and discovered this. Now the switch is set to always think that the CDX is closed.

I'm gonna be playing Lunar 2... =o) Anyone want to sell me Fatal Fury Special, Samurai Showdown, Lords of Thunder, or Mortal Kombat?

Oh yeah... And my copy of Dragon's Lair works great... That game SUCKS ass!!! I had SO looked forward to finally getting to play it, having heard so many good things about the game... But I'm disappointed.
