Nope, you are righ! Akumajo Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight for the Sega Saturn is a slightly enhanced version of the Playstation classic of the same name.

When they ported the classic vampire killing adventure over to the Saturn, the added two new levels, new music, made Richter playable from the beginning, and added Maria Renard as a playable character among other things.

Unfortunately, they added more load times, took away most of the transparancey effects, and added some slowdown.

Do not let those bad things get to you, though, as the game is still excellent and an all-time classic. If you can get it for a good price, pick it up but if the PSX version is the only one you can get your hands on, that is fine too.

I bought the import psx ver the day it came out. Great Game! Only rivaled imho by the Saturn version.

The Dracula X for the snes isn't worth buying, although I highly recommend the turbo ver.

Rade, if you hold UP when you select Richter, you can play as him in his blue coat with long hair. The Duo Dracula X is great and so is the Saturn version of NOTM, both are great buys and worth it.

Thanks for the cool tip! Thanks this topic, I have started a new game with Alucard. I love the Saturn version. The controller is so much cooler than the PSX's.

Also, one more thing, the Saturn version lets you carry one more item. Making it three selectable things at a time, ie: you can have a sword, shield, and piece of meat equiiped at once! Cool shit. I cannot believe i forgot to mention it.

Have a good time hunting those ghouls,
Rade

Yeah, Dracula X for the Saturn is cool!
I bought it three weeks ago and I'm enjoying it a lot.
I also have the Turbo Duo Dracula X: Rondo of Blood (a collector's masterpiece ) and I must say that I prefer the Turbo Duo game. It is a completely different game (the Saturn game starts just where the Turbo Duo game ends), but it is really awesome. Not for the graphics (of course the Saturn game has better graphics) that were cool anyway, but the music is much better and the levels are much more diverse. Definitely, one of my favourite game on any system

Yeah, Rondo of Blood I think is the best in the series. NOTM an extremely close second.

I collect castlevania, I have almost all of the games (Genuine)
Enough boasting...(Or attempting to)

Rondo is the Best game,WIth NOTM a second, COTM 3rd (Just)

Saturn version rocks but is rare...its not worth an Ebay auction like Rondo is however...

Languages don' really matter...just slash serious butt!!!
(Knowing japanese helps...damn!)

Saturn version is worth owning for the extra goodies, but my major gripe with it the fact that its in Japanese. I like to read the little story tidbits

It is good to know Japanese if you want to complete the game sans frustration. Thankfully, I have played through the PSX rev more than few times and know where eveything is.

Example: If you couldnt read Japanese, you wouldnt know that the librarian sells the item that lets you open blue doors. Shit like that.

Any other qeuestions?

I don't think it can compare to the Duo version. Dracula X is in a class of its own. Easily one of the best musical scores in a video game.

Neo GML, the Dracula X on Duo is the prequel to NOTM on Saturn and PS. Alucard isn't in it.

No, GML, NOTM is a direct sequel to RoB. It begins with the ending of RoB. There is no Saturn version of RoB. And there is no duo version of NOTM.
